“My son, pay attention to my wisdom; lend your ear to my understanding.”
―Proverbs 5:1 (NKJV)
Honestly, on average, what you have to say probably doesn’t need to be said.
The best policy is to mostly limit your contribution to a conversation to asking an occasional very good question and then just listen.
But…
There are a few people in your life that need to hear what you have to say and to not speak up is a derelict of duty.
Pray diligently and regularly for wisdom to know what to say (and when to say it!), say it, and then hope to high heaven that they have the good sense to listen.
There comes a time that that’s about all you can do.
The ONE THING for today: There’s not many, but there’s a few that really do need to hear what you’ve got to say and to not speak up is to greatly let them down.
“When you listen to someone talk to others, you know immediately what they value: themselves, their content, or their audience.”
— John Maxwell, The 16 Undeniable Laws of Communication
