You Hurt My Feelings

“When we’re struggling, sometimes we need exhortation more than we need affirmation.”

— Jonathan K. Dodson

There are dozens of differences between any two people, but there is one thing we all have in common – struggles.

And here’s the rub…

When going through these tough times, as Dodson stated in the above quote, what we often need is exhortation. Someone to come along beside us and say, “Get up! Get going! You can do this…if…you start doing something.”

Coddling must be temporary.

Kissing the boo boo and putting a band aid on it is okay to start with, but then you have to get back in the fray and keep going.

The ONE THING for today: Its hard to get better without getting your feelings hurt. For to get better requires more than platitudes and pity. Getting better requires the truth. And the truth usually hurts.

Thank God for real friends who will hurt our feelings with the truth and then encourage us as we walk it out.
