The Last Trump
I’m doing a bait-and-switch.
Sorry.
This column isn’t really about the Rapture.
Or is it?
I’ve always been very hesitant to get anywhere close to date-setting. I am old enough to remember the wonderful 70s, when the “Hal Lindsey Revolution” swept churches across the country.
I heard often that the Rapture was imminent. Us junior high kids would literally watch the skies and whenever we would watch one of those extraordinary “split sky with light” scenes, we’d think we had only a few minutes left!
But the years passed. So many—let’s call them what they were, predictions—came and went. In the 90s, I got to know some well-known Bible prophecy teachers. I worked in book publishing. Privately (and sometimes publicly) these people would say, for example, that Jesus was coming back in September. Or something along those lines. Twenty-five years later, we’re still here. Some of the “edge” has come off those exciting days watching the skies.
Yet I, like many people, believe we might very well be right at the time of the end.
The current conflicts Israel finds herself in I think confirm that. Yes, 1948 was intense. As was 1967.
- Oslo in 1992 and the terrorism that has followed.
Now we find ourselves watching the Hamas War.
But here is what seems to indicate things have accelerated dramatically and not only is there no going back to “normalcy,” there is no engaging the brakes on the runaway train.
Israel finds itself in an historically dangerous era regarding the Jewish state’s relationship with her longtime friend, the U.S. A reprehensible Regime in Washington has been pushing forward Barack Obama’s well-known hatred of Israel. In fact, the former president is probably the one working the levers, as Biden has simply enjoyed the perks of the presidency these last 3.5 years.
America has suffered greatly for that. So has Israel.
The relationship began to fracture during the Obama era. His animus for the Jewish state was so obvious. He imperiled not only Israel, but the world. Obama’s handling (on purpose, I am convinced) of the Middle East was disastrous. He malevolent machinations in Libya, Syria, and Egypt destroyed what had been a long period of relative stability.
He also began to hurt Israel diplomatically.
Enter Donald John Trump.
The real estate mogul came from nowhere to capture the presidency. His stunning gestures toward Israel (moving the embassy to Jerusalem, recognizing Israeli sovereignty over the Golan, and much more) were truly unprecedented. Before him, presidents simply lied during election campaigns, as their promises to Israel always fell by the wayside.
Now we find ourselves in a unique period. I wanted Trump to have two consecutive terms. But look what God has done. If cheating doesn’t deny him a second time, Trump is on track to a landslide win in November—against whoever the Democrats finally settle on as his opponent.
And today, Trump welcomed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his wife to Mara Lago. This is one of the most important meetings of world leaders in several years, and it is the perfect setting. Away from prying eyes, I have no doubt the two men have had substantive talks. It’s also interesting to note that various world leaders are now reaching out to Trump. They expect him back.
It isn’t that I think a potential Trump and Netanyahu re-engagement will “save the world” or bring us back to the breezy 1950s. But rather I think it provides an environment for the final puzzle pieces of prophecy to be arranged close to each other. The final map is in the offing.
This doesn’t mean Biden won’t continue to be a menace. Kamala Harris is now in the spotlight, and her worldview is nothing short of satanic, from her bizarre and dangerous “reimagining safety” regarding defunding police, but her sinister view of Israel.
The foundation of “the rest of the way” I believe where Israel is concerned centers on the Palestinian question. It has for the secular world for more than 50 years. The world will not leave alone the unjust and unworkable “Land for Peace” agenda that sprang from Oslo 30 years ago. At no point have the Palestinians met any obligation under the deal, but Israel has made concession after concession. When you negotiate with terrorists, they keep demanding more. Arafat and his goons should have been crushed, but instead they were invited to stay in the Lincoln Bedroom.
Carter, Bush, Clinton, Bush, and Obama created and fed the Palestinian monster.
Trump cut their funding off and scoffed at their legitimacy.
Now, if he returns, and Netanyahu remains in power, the duo has a chance to set the final gameboard. Israel will gather herself. America will cease temporarily from being a diplomatic tool of the devil, and the nations will continue to advance their Oslo madness.
That will set the stage for the finale. The Zechariah outline will round into form.
Maybe Trump will have something to do with the Last Trump!
We will soon see.
