inCOG: New Administrative Bishop/State Overseer for Indiana
CLEVELAND, TN: The Church of God International Executive Committee today announced the appointment of Dr. David H. Gosnell to serve as the Administrative Bishop/State Overseer of Indiana. His appointment will be effective February 1, 2017.
Gosnell has served as International Men’s Discipleship Director for the Church of God since August 2010, while his wife, Lorna, served in a similar position for Women’s Discipleship for the denomination. Prior to becoming the Men’s Discipleship Director, Gosnell served as Administrative Bishop in the Midlands Region. He became an Administrative Bishop after having served more than 22 years as a State Director of Youth and Discipleship in Tennessee, South Georgia, Eastern North Carolina, Kentucky, West Virginia, and in the Midlands Region.
Gosnell attended East Coast Bible College, Lee University, and the Pentecostal Theological Seminary where he earned a doctorate (D. Min.) in leadership.
An effective leader in her own right, Lorna Gosnell previously served as the Secretary-Treasurer for the Church of God State Office in Tennessee and has worked with numerous state offices and churches in helping to build strong financial systems and policies.
“I, along with the rest of the Executive Committee, are extremely pleased that Bro. Gosnell has agreed to serve as the State Overseer of Indiana. He is eminently qualified to serve in this position, having previously been a State Overseer and worked in a state office and as a church leader for the past 32 years. The Church of God in Indiana is blessed to have David and Lorna Gosnell as their new leaders,” stated Dr. Timothy M. Hill, General Overseer of the Church of God.
Gosnell expressed gratitude regarding his new assignment: “Lorna and I are extremely excited about the opportunity to serve the Church of God in Indiana. We are looking forward to meeting with the State Council and the ministers in the state to develop an agenda to carry out the FINISH Commitment in the Hoosier State. God has great things in store for Indiana – and we are looking forward to being a part of that effort.”
Gosnell replaces outgoing Administrative Bishop Jeffrey B. Robinson. Robinson is assuming the lead pastor position at the Plant City (FL) Church of God.
