OK so Jesus said apart from me you can do nothing, but there are people who are very successful apart from Jesus so what did he mean by this?

  1. Patrick Matthew Parisi says:

He means on your own you can accomplish nothing that matters. The world’s idea or defintion of “success” is far different from God’s idea of success, my friend.

  2. Stephen Howsare says:

Thats quite simple, those people aren’t of Him, but are of the world.

  3. Colleen Moore says:

They may be successful by human standards, but there is more than that!

  4. Patrick Matthew Parisi says:

Worldy success is measured in money, women, and other such material gains. Jesus believes success is bringing as many people to heaven with you as you possibly can.

  5. Rick Holtsclaw says:

Jesus is talking about the things of the Spirit…those things that are eternal, not temporary or carnal. Without Jesus Christ as Lord and the indwelling Holy Spirit, we can have no positive impact on the Kingdom.

  6. Clint Mason says:

    Nothing…..of eternal value.

  7. Brian A Dimond says:

He also says (all my good deeds are but filthy rags) because apart from Him nothing is good, it is self reliance, self determination, etc. I could save a 100 children everyday for the rest of my life and if I don’t believe in Him then it all don’t mean nothing. You want to know the meaning of life? Glorify God

  8. Grace Williams says:

Successful in what way, money, big house, expensive car, great job? And where do they go, when they die? My wealth may not be in material but mine would last, forever.

  9. William Mc Sr. says:

jesus was meaning without him you can not get to the father. if you came any other way you are a theif and a liar and know sin gets in to heaven. regarding money; if iam in the rain and a sinner is in the rain, we both will get wet.

  10. Tyler Carlisle says:

“For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together.” Col. 1:16-17

  11. Jonathan Patterson says:

Their cells in their body wouldn’t function unless God made it happen

What’s your definition of being or doing something, is it what the world calls success?? NO!!

  13. Jonathan Patterson says:

Ask yourself my friend… do I want the gist of what God says, or every word?

God is not the author of confusion..?

I understood it to mean… we cannot manifest fruits of the Spirit such as characteristics of God, peace, gentleness, love, self control etc ..or any spiritual achievement/ calling apart from Christ. ??‍♀️
My sin nature messes things up every time. Grateful for Gods Grace to grow.

  15. Bob Jones says:

Nothing for Him and the Kingdom of God

  16. Caleb Laubrich says:

Maybe in an eternal standpoint? As we know the treasures of Earth will fade away meaning no matter what people are doing or how successful they are in this life, at the end of the day they’re success means nothing. in Christ our success and our treasures start to store up in heaven. not our literal mansions on Earth but you get what I’m saying.

  17. Mike Davis says:

Personally, I have done more and been infinitely more happy since I left religion. So I could not tell you. When I was christian I could have come up with convoluted thing about it being about the spirit and what you get in heaven.

The word of God is alive. It works for everyone sinners and believer’s. The legendaire soilder was not a jew but HE believed in the kingdom concepts that jesus was preaching and explaining to the many. Jesus admired the legionnaires understanding and so HE Healed the servant by sending forth his healing. I believe the Roman soldier believed in God afterwards. Evil people are still blessed with everyday life until sin accumulates and blows up in there faces.
