I’ll start it off.
I’ve always been inclined to read the Genesis account of creation literally. Recently, I’ve come to realise that the structure of the account and the style of it lends credence to the idea that there’s a message in the account that is not as much about recounting events in the same way that we, in our modern culture, have come to expect. This doesn’t mean that I doubt the infallibility of scripture. Not at all. It’s important to understand the intended message rather than some notion of how to fit the account into what we believe.
That said, I’m starting to think that Adam and Eve might have been two humans out of others who, along with their progeny, would have a covenantal relationship with God.
Perhaps these are those who are later referred to as the “Sons of God”. While others would be described as “[offspring] of men”.
I’m not sure about this idea. I intend to research it more to see if it can be dismissed by other biblical texts or not.
In the meantime, I intend to keep an open mind.
