There are many opinions on this. Mine is that the sun existed after verse 1. Then God changed the atmosphere so that the sun’s light could get through, but was diffused. Later on day 4, God changed the atmosphere again so that it was transparent revealing the sun moon and stars.

Regardless whether we understand it or not, God was there, we were not, so who are we to say what God did or did not do. Or might have done. If he said their was light there was, sun or not.

no source, God created the light before the source, created photons before the projector.. pretty cool when you think about it.

Glory of God, or any other provision by His Will in such a way that glorifies God.

My thoughts…The source of light comes from God, and what separates day from night is the face of the earth facing the light (day) or against the light (night), the separation is like the outline of a shadow, like molding the earth to be round.

That source of light was Jesus!!!!❤️❤️this was before natural light in the first day. That light didn’t happen till the 4th day. In Hebrew if you translate it it literally translates as light come forth.. like God is saying from him light come forth. That’s why Jesus existed in the beginning.. later Jesus confirms he is the light of the world later in New Testament. ??

If there was light, God was the source of it (not talking from memory or anything, lol, JMHO). Day and night didn’t exist until God created them with the sun and the moon.

God is light. He is what shines in heaven. No sun is needed.

I think the light before the sun was created on the third day was the Spiritual Light of God Himself. In Revelation it says that the sun or moon are not needed as God was the source of light.

Since everything that is made came from God and through God. And since every matter is just pure energy at its core.
Perhaps God is just this pure brilliant and destructive energy. It woult be the brightest light there is. -
