Is Paul a sexist or does God think women are inferior? Please explain your rational with clear exegesis from 1 Timothy 2, 1 Corinthians 11, and 14.

Women are valuable as the scripture says men treat them as Christ treats the church. But God has His order set from the beginning that man is leader and the woman the helper. Satan has always used women to step out of order in order to control the men. Its happened and is happening in the churches.

Both sexes have different qualities, just as important as one another. Women teaching isn’t a good idea according to God, they have other important roles.

That’s assuming you accept that the Bibel is God I spite and and iberrnt word of God it’s not open for opinion. Inn with however both are loved by God and that’s where our worth before comes from. Paul tells us men and women are equals in Galatians 3:28. He also explains that women find themselves in the position they’re in due to eve sinning first then Adam. That’s in timothy. God set things up perfectly to display his relationship with us through the relationship of a husband to his wife.

Neither God or Paul are sexist. Men and women are exactly the same in dignity and value. But men and women have different roles. -
Women are definitely not inferior to men in any way.
However there are clear Biblical roles. It has nothing to do with being worth more or less but everything on how God designed it.
Gods design works best…because He said so. -
Why is it bad for men and women to have roles? Say that men have natural weaknesses, no one cares. Say that women have natural weaknesses, and people call that sexist.

Context is key. First, when Paul is writing to Timothy, the authority and order were out of whack. Paul’s command was to properly put things in order. This wasn’t a command that a woman could not teach, but that they weren’t to have authority “over”. Paul, in other areas of his letters, gives direct praise to the women in ministry who were disciple making. They were helping others along in their walks and most likely men. They were not exercising authority, but disciple making.
Second, you refer to 1 Corinthians 11… This is the compliment of men and women together, in the order of what’s appointed in a godly Husband and Wife relationship. Again, “godly”, because it must be grounded in Him in order for the rest of the commands to begin making sense. -

Jen Wilkin is an excellent bible teacher whose studies are available on youtube. She is a complimentarian and speaks to women’s groups. She makes a very good point that we need more women teaching women the bible because we have different perspectives and life experiences. I fully agree with that. I believe women have a responsibility to teach other women and also the children in the church. Not just the men’s job!

We are all equally sinners saved by grace through faith in Christ Jesus. But women specifically who fear the Lord are to be praised, which proves God’s love for Godly women.

Their culture and ancient custom has to be considered on how their biblical gender roles are stipulated.
It was the norm for them and it did not suggest inferiority between genders. -

If you read the Bible to learn about God and how seek his face and how you should live your life to be more like Christ. You wouldn’t ever come up with questions like this. God is love and there is nothing offensive in this book. God loves us all but there are roles for each of us and when you reject your role you are rejecting God and when you reject God there are consequences. So re-read and pray that God will give you wisdom and understanding and your questions like this will be answered.

Paul knew the Bible and understood about Adam and the flow of authority. You know what a disregard for real and good authority is? It’s anarchy! Wives submitting to their husbands is not the same thing as husbands beating their wives as the wife patiently endures it. It means what it actually means. Submission to authority is no different in society. We submit to bosses and to government. Nobody thinks that government itself is wrong, and people *want* bosses to employ them all over the place. Eve passed her genes on, and she was tricked. God cursed her with a desire to dominate her husband. The blame was on Adam, and Eve was sheltered from the top blame (even though she did it first), because she hadn’t heard directly from God. Adam is the priest of the family. It’s all finely worked structure that free wills have to learn to obey willingly. You don’t have to obey all men, just the husband you agreed to marry. He is given commands about you, too – to love you as Christ loved the church and gave Himself for it (died!). Paul only looks like a chauvinist to a petulant and arrogant society that hates God’s ordering of the whole Universe and the true character of their own existence. 1 Corinthians 11:18 – “For first of all, when ye come together in the church, I hear that there be divisions among you; and I partly believe it.” Proverbs 31:10-31.

Personally, subsequent to a study, I find Paul’s admonition that women remain silent in the Church related to the paganism that was transpiring at the Temple of Delphi near Corinth in the 1st-Century. It was in the pagan Temple at Delphi that a pagan “priestess” set atop a throne with intoxicating substances burning around the base of the throne and patrons would enter the temple and inquire of the priestess seeking enlightenment via her prophetic utterances. The priestess would ramble gibberish, unintelligible sounds, once intoxicated and it is suggested that this pagan practice carried-over into the Church at Corinth where speaking in an unknown tongue (ecstatic utterance) (1 Corinthians 14) was taking place and creating dissension and confusion in the Church; hence:
“As in all the churches of the saints, 34 the women should keep silent in the churches. For they are not permitted to speak, but should be in submission, as the Law also says. 35 And if they desire to learn anything, let them ask their own husbands at home; for it is improper for a woman to speak in church.” 1 Corinthians 14:33b-35

God is not a sexist! God created man prior to creating Eden. Once Eden was created, then Eve was created with the beautiful flowers and trees. God used Abigail to stop King David from slaughtering her husband. Ruth was honored by being placed into the lineage of Jesus in book of Mathew. Jesus saved and showed great compassion for the woman at the well, and the Mary (the woman of the streets). Jesus even revealed Himself after the resurrection first to woman. Paul demanded we treat woman like the weaker vessel. Weaker vessel doesn’t mean strength, but a vessel we show everyone like fine china plates, high and lifted up. Paul said our prayers will be hindered if our wives are mad at us.

Hi guys! I appreciate some of your responses but I want to remind you that as Christians, we should be approaching questions in a meek and gentle way. If I was an athiest or someone from another religion, I would be turned off by the harshness of some comments on here.

It says we aren’t to usurp a man’s authority by correcting him in the congregation. If we feel the Pastor etc is wrong in his teaching we aren’t to argue the point in public which is disrespectful. We should at the appropriate time discuss our objections and come to an understanding.

Woman’s greatest sin, with which she has struggled, has ALWAYS been the desire to usurp the authority of the man. The natural, sinful flesh is jealous, envious, covetous. A parallel is drawn where Satan as an angel coveted God’s position and was cast down.
