Are all sins choices, short or long term, to go against God’s will? If yes, that leaves a possibility for homosexuality being a unique scenario, for it is very possible that homosexuality is indeed not a choice.

Okay, I have no desire to be rude, please know that. I am, by nature, a very direct honest person, so please bear this in mind as you read my comment to your OP. I am genuinely concerned about the content of your OP, that you might be on the verge of some very harmful choices.
Yes, all sins are, to one degree or another, choices. Where in the world do you get the idea that homosexuality is not a choice? Why is it exempted?
The roots of homosexuality are founded in the deceit of Satan. He is the father of lies and has the ability to deceive people who do not guard a faith in Jesus. Satan has the ability to convince people of things which aren’t true. To walk away from faith, either as an unbeliever, or as a believer who changes his mind, is a CHOICE to follow Satan! It is a sin as scripture states in several places, certainly not the only sexual sin, but definitely among them. You must CHOOSE, this day, whom you will serve.
Either God is a liar or He isn’t. There is no middle road. Please, don’t hand your faith to those who want your company in hell. In Christ, M.

To be bent or broken in a certain direction may not be a choice. We are all bent and broken. To act on that bent is a choice.

Wrong. To say same sex attraction is not a choice is to also say lust and adultery and anger and unforgiving nature is not a choice. All of them are choices we make… to obey the flesh or to obey the Spirit. We fail but as long as we continue to align our desires to God’s will, we will overcome by His grace. Ultimately it is this..

Feeling attraction towards the same gender is not sin. Acting on that attraction either in thought or deed is sin.

We are born in rebellion against God – having a sinful nature is not a choice and might explain why all of us struggle with innate sinful desires, of which homosexuality is just one example. There is a choice, however, in whether we seek to feed our rebellious nature or whether we seek God’s forgiveness and grace to stand against it.
In other words we will be held accountable for the decisions we make regarding desires over which we may not have a choice.

Having homosexual desires isn’t really a choice, because of the fact that we are all born with unnatural and sinful desires. But however acting upon that desire is a sin. On the bright side, all because having homosexual desires is not a choice, same sex attraction is not something that is fixed and Permanent so that means a persons desires can change.

If you want to make this very simple, Biblical marriage is between a man and woman, correct? And any sexual impulses or actions outside of marriage are sinful, correct? Then all sexual impulses and actions outside of marriage are sinful. Whether one is attracted to the same or oppose sex, the sexual desire or action would in fact be sinful, correct? It’s “natural” to be heterosexual, but those desires and actions outside of marriage are still sinful. I see no difference with someone struggling with homosexual desires.

Choice is a little ambiguous in this context. Sin is our nature, it’s our default. But we can make the choice to abide in Jesus and become somewhat sanctified.
So yes, sin is a choice because we can choose to not sin by abiding in Jesus.

Further to my earlier comment, I would want to encourage anyone here who might be struggling with this, that although certain desires are sinful, I fully believe it is possible to live as a Christian and still battle sinful desires. This does nothing to negate our responsibility to take a stand against them but it does mean that, if we are struggling in some way, God still has grace for the person who is in Christ. I’m reminded of the words of Paul in Romans 7 v. 15-25.
For the Christian there will come the day in glory when all sin is done away with and we will be everything that God wants us to be – perfect and incorruptible. In the meantime there is grace upon grace for you (Rom. 5:20).

The temptation to sin is not a sin and is not a choice. The decision to act on that temptation, whether physically or mentally, is a sin.
In other words, same-sex attraction isn’t a sin, but letting those feelings develop into lust or pursuing physical relationship is a sin and is a choice.

Homosexuality is a wilful, deliberate, sin against your own body and against God’s Covenant of Marriage as established in The Beginning and reiterated in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. There is forgiveness for the sin of homosexuality if the participant repents/stops the offending conduct and trusts – believes in Jesus Christ as Lord for the mediation of sin; otherwise, the homosexual offender will die in their sin and not see life in God’s Kingdom.

Ok. Here’s where I get into trouble again. Ok we are all born enslaved to sin. We have a “choice” whether or not to sin, but our sin nature will take over. Therefore we will always “choose” sin. It is not until we are redeemed that we are given a second nature. A Godly nature. Then its a matter of which nature wins out.
Homosexuals are living in a world where broken families, abuse, and gender confusion are rampant. This scenario conditions many people from a very young age to pursue an unnatural life style. Their, “choice” is what their conditioned sin nature leads them too.

Let me just leave this right here:
All humans are born with the sin nature. This was inherited from the first two parents, Adam and Eve, who took into their nature, the nature of Satan. Human nature was a neutral nature, until they committed sin. Now the neutral nature with which we were created has been corrupted through sin.
All humans separated from God, will only lean towards fulfillment of the sin nature. Some fulfill it by drinking, smoking, cursing, lying, cheating, stealing, committing adultery or fornication, homosexuality, lesbianism, pedophilia, pornography, the list goes on. Why do some choose homosexual behavior over other sin, is anyone’s guess. I suppose curiosity would have something to do with it. But here is the thing about all sin. The first time a person chooses to commit a sin, they intuitively already know it’s wrong. It doesn’t matter what the sin is. This is called having a conscience. If the person tries the sin and realizes “hey, this ain’t for me!”, they probably don’t go back to it. Others might realize it brings some type of pleasure or satisfaction to them, so, they continue to do it. Continued lustful, unrestrained living for the immediate gratification of the sin nature inevitably leads to two very big and very real problems in their lives. One is bondage to that sin, that they already knew was something they should not be doing.
And two,
A seared conscience. A point at which a person arrives to where they no longer care what they do. Both conditions more often result in serious mental and physical maladies that are impossible to conquer without the Lord Jesus Christ intervening in their lives.
The problem here then becomes one of pride. Wherein the individual may deny they have any problems at all, or, just don’t want to be reminded that they have made some serious mistakes.
Thanks be to God for Jesus Christ. He can break any and every chain that man can bind himself in, bar none.
Sin has an alluring effect upon the spirit of fallen humans. That which man thinks will be good and pleasurable and bring the freedom they have so long desired, turns out to be only a myth and pleasurable for a short season. It quickly turns to bondage and degradation. If Christ doesn’t intervene, it will eventually cost that individual their eternal soul.
All humans have eternal life. They just have to make the decision where they are going to spend that eternity. Heaven or Hell. -

Some I have heard have unwanted and unpursued attraction to the same sex. Homosexuality is a temptation first. If you act on it and pursue same sex romance then that is when it becomes a choice. God is able to convert the in inclinations and attractions inside of people. And he can change people’s hearts, minds, wills, and emotions. I used to have chocolate more than once a day. I gave up chocolate over a year ago and I thought I could never give it up, but God changed my inclination and lust for it. I only have had chocolate a few times in 13 months.

People might have same sex attraction but they don’t have to pursue it. They can ask God to do spiritual heart surgery on them and pursue getting healed emotionally from the root causes of the problem. God knows what they are even if they don’t know what they are.

No sin is too difficult for God to redeem someone out of. God is able to work with the faith of a homosexual when or if they say “God I don’t want to be defined by this temptation, or God I don’t want to be defined by this sin. Help me to be transformed by you!”

God is a life changer. 1 Corinthians 6:10-12 tells how some of the Corinthians USED to be homosexuals. Verse 11 says “that is what some of you WERE” Were is past tense. Then it says “But you were WASHED and SANCTIFIED….”In the Lord Jesus. Saving and sanctifying people who were homosexuals is NOTHING NEW to the Lord Jesus.

I was “born” heterosexual, but I’m not allowed to take any woman I want, at any time I want.

There is no gay Gene. No one is born gay. Something social or cultural, or some physiological problem in development must be causing it. Homosexual sexual preference is no different than pedophilic sexual preference. It’s just an aberrant desire for a deviancy from natural sexuality. Is homosexuality a choice? The state of being homosexual and being sexually attracted to men itself isn’t really a sin. While I would like to believe that homosexual activity isn’t a sin (unless it’s premarital), and I’ve found some evidence for that, it’s really about acting on your desires. That is a choice, and it’s something you have to learn to control. It’s caused some heartache for homosexuals over history, but sometimes you just have to learn that being single isn’t the end of the world. Being with someone isn’t the purpose of life, having a relationship (lmao) with Jesus is. And while it is a scientifically confirmed fact that it isn’t a choice to be attracted to different sexes, you just have to be able to reject these desires. Just as a heterosexual isn’t allowed to take any man/woman they want whenever they want.

Nobody chooses to be attracted to the sex they experience attraction to. Rather, it is experienced as a discovery.
Homosexuality arises from environmental factors including:
– A sensitive temperament
– Feelings of abandonment or lack of bonding with the same-sex parent in early childhood
– Feelings of over-identification/bonding or emotional enmeshment with the opposite sex parent
– Feelings of estrangement or bullying from same-sex peers or older same-sex siblings
– Molestation/sexual abuse
– Reinforcing conditioning bonding behavior through the use of same-sex porn, masturbation, orgasmAll of these factors rewire the brain and body to be sexually attracted to and aroused by the same sex. Most are not chosen, a few are.
But here’s the good news…our brains can be rewired. You can’t do it on your own but you can with help.
So, you may not have a choice for how you’re set up to be attracted to the same sex but you do have a choice for getting out of this. If we are going to grow and mature, then we have to take responsibility for our own growth. Sexual attraction is not immutable. In fact, current research shows it is quite mutable over a lifetime. Same-sex attractions are not destiny. They are just another symptom of a fallen world that we need to trust Christ for change in our lives.

Colin Spotswood Maybe we don’t choose every temptation, but we do choose whether or not to act on them. Don’t identify yourself by your temptations. Are you claiming lust and fornication are not sin, claiming they are not choices?

If by “choice” you mean “consciously constructed plan”, then no, some lustful desires come upon us suddenly. Our sin-corrupted bodies have their own innate forces against us. But, if by “choice” you mean acceptance of domination, then that is more along the line of what’s happening with the cases of sexual perversion that seem to not be a choice. Run to Master Jesus – no amount of willpower or knowledge or desire will enable you to stave off everything that is against you, like homosexuality very evidently is against your very body as well as that which all sin is against – your spirit that any sin kills the first time that first sin is done in knowledge of any law of conscience, like when you’re two and guilty go against your mother’s command, and you giggle. Verbally confess Master Jesus in the knowledge that He died on purpose to reconcile sinners to God. Believe God resurrected Him and do right. After all, Romans 10:9a & 10:10b, due to believing 1 Corinthians 15:1-8, results in Romans 10:9b & 10:10a.
