Does Jesus Christ specifically say that baptism by water is a requirement for salvation anywhere in the Gospels?

The thief on the cross, he was the first one to walk thru the gates of Heaven with Jesus. He didn’t have time to get baptized.

is not obedience a requirement. closest verse, the one who believes and is baptized will be saved. not absolute because of the second clause but there are graces that come with baptism why not be obedient?

If you mean by requirement that it causes our salvation then no; but if you mean by requirement as in its an obligation then yes. Obedience is not optional.

to Holly; it seems you are in a oneness Pentecostal church circa 1913. you are separated from all other Christians over the baptism formula difference. in 2 decades of research I found no evidence of the oneness peoples reasoning on the church changing any formula etc. I assume you have no freedom to change or leave that church. I used to be baptized that way and I went back to trintarian because of lack of evidence for the acts form. the words can mean something else in Greek not English. so you cant change.

It is evident from Scripture that only believers are to be baptized, otherwise they are only getting wet. “a) He who believes and is baptized shall be saved, and b) he who Believes not shall be damned.” It does not and “and is not baptized” in part b. Just as standing in a garage does not make one a car, so baptism does not make one a Christian.

I will follow the EXAMPLE set by Jesus since actions speak louder than words. Baptism is not some mystical magical ritual that protects you like a vaccine…. It is a declaration by the baptized that he has chosen to be a follower of Jesus. It must be made publicly. If you were baptized as a baby then you need to re do it this time by immersion in the manner of Jesus, since that what the word means in Greek.

Mark 16 he says he who believes and is baptized. A broader view of the gospels at least would make one think it is the default or normative.

No. If it was required, then how did the sinner to Jesus’s left/right (depending on view) get into heaven?

What about those who commit to God AFTER the rapture and there are no opportunities for baptism?

What if someone gets saved on Sunday, but baptism service isn’t for another 2 weeks and they die in a car accident? Seriously..

Did all the disciples go to heaven (obviously excluding Judas Iscariot)? If so, where in the bible does it say they were baptized?

No,Water baptism does not lead to heaven if so, all drowned people would go to heaven…. he he.. just joking….Spiritual Baptism is necessary however water baptism is a sign to declare that we are spiritually baptized, dead and arose in Christ… It does not have meaning by itself…

No but I think the spirituality of it is implied due to the culture it started in. They were all Jews. Look up the mikvah. You couldn’t be Jewish unless you went into the mikvah and this was a legal ceremonial thing. I think the implication is the same here. I also wonder if the amount of apostasies we see are people, who professed Christianity and then left, were actually unbaptized both with water and the holy spirit. I wonder sometimes if what is done in the physical does in some way make implementation in the spirit world. I know it can be the other way around obviously we have scripture to account for this… But let’s say a certificate of marriage etc… If it were really just paper to God then why have Moses have a physical thing for a divorce? Or is it more of the acts done that make movement within the spirit world… I have so many questions…

Mark 16;16 is very close but under normal circumstances, no like the thief on the cross why not obey and be baptized. Why are people asking these type of questions? you want to believe in Jesus but you don’t want to be baptized that is plain disobedience to his will.
