We are bir. with a conscience which seems to have a vague standard. Experiements have but run with babies to that end. The society in which they live seems to focus the image to more concrete ideas of right and wrong. But I don’t believe in evolution. Do we really see conscience in the lower animals. Instinct id what drive them in their behavior. Pack animal like dogs mimic. Group behavior. Like consciousness itself that leaves the evolutionist with a big questions.

Humans can adapt survival instinct but having ethical laws from evolving cant bring the purposeful argument. Eventually there is a need of a standard.

One of my favorite subjects! Yes, the evidence shows that Mammals evolved morality by becoming nurturers of their young, as opposed to reptiles, for example, who abandon their young immediately. This allowed young mammals to learn from their parents, to continue growing and developing mentally as they aged, protected by their family.

This led to the potential for larger brains, and then language, which was the real launching pad for a moral framework.

  4. Joshua Eckhardt says:

Of course, we can see this continuing evolution of morality in species such as elephants, wolves and dolphins. They have rules, which are enforced. They defend their young, instinctively, just as humans do.

    No.

  7. Caleb Backholm says:

No. There is no “ought to” in nature, only “is.”

  10. Ronald Uriel says:
