Please excuse me for this being so far off topic it’s unreal. My son wants to be a chaplain in the military and since he is a freshman in high school we are looking at colleges, so far we have looked at ORU and Hillsdale and decided they aren’t for him. Are there any colleges that have solid theological teachings?

Torrey Honors Institute at Biola University is top notch.

Luther Rice is great for students in military chaplaincy.

I would also reccomend getting in touch with a Chaplin at a military facility. They should be able to explain the process and requirements for becoming a Chaplin.
At a minimum he will need to get a Bachelor’s degree and then most probably a MDiv. (Masters of Divinity) which are traditionally available from a theological seminary.

The Master’s University in Santa Clarita California is a good one.

Moody Bible Institute is a really good one and is very well known. You have the ability to get a MDIV from here as well, I believe. Another really good one is DTS (Dallas Theological Seminary) I know you can obtain an MDIV from here and often times Dr. Tony Evens will give a seminar here too and his church is just minutes away as well!

It’s a long long process to be a Chaplain in the Military – Bachelors degree first. Then M. Div. Seminary – then he must be under the tutelage of a Pastor in an active church for a time (this can be done simultaneously)
He can enlist in the military or the Reserves and work through it all but there is a lot of extra schooling that regular Pastor don’t need to be Ordained. I went to ORU and they were great! They had so many options. And as for “theology”
What do you mean?
Are you wanting to teach what you been taught for the past 20 in church ⛪️ that won’t go against your family tradition?
That’s not gonna happen anywhere.They don’t have a straight “theology”
Concept which was what drew so many to them.
If you go to a Baptist college they tell you all the Arminians are going to hell and are legalistic, you go to the opposite the opposite happens.At oral Roberts every denomination was taught.
My Greek teacher and new testaments teacher was catholic. My sistamatics professor was baptist. My theology of ethics professor was a senator and a pastor.The idea when you come out of ORU isn’t to come out as the best denominations you were raised in, but to come out as the strongest follower of Christ you can be.
