  1. Jacob Weaver says:

Absolutely. The Bible says so. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit. It’s the only time such a thing has happened.

  2. Rick Holtsclaw says:

Messiah was prophesied to enter Time through the womb of a virgin beginning in Genesis 3:14-15 immediately subsequent to Adam’s rejection of God’s Covenant of Sustenance and God’s edict to not compromise with evil. Adam was held culpable for disobedience as Adam received God’s edict to not compromise with evil DIRECTLY from God while Eve, possessing less culpability, received the edict by hearsay from her husband, Adam.

As a result of Adam’s disobedience, mankind fell under a curse and genomic mutational degradation manifest and as a result of
Adam’s disobedience, sin and death entered the World…it is through Adam’s seed that the sin-nature is passed genealogically (Romans 5:12; 1 Corinthians 15:21).

Messiah entered Time through the womb of a virgin and circumvented the sin-nature transferred through Adam to Joseph. Jesus, who is God (Philippians 2:8) entered Time in His humanity, in flesh, and successfully fulfilled the Law of Moses for us (Matthew 5:17) and thereby became the only acceptable sacrifice for sin as God the Father had commanded that there is no atonement for sin without the shedding of blood; therefore, Jesus Christ, who knew no sin, became sin for us so that we could receive the imputation of His righteousness over our life and find forgiveness of sin and peace with God the Father by grace through faith (2 Corinthians 5:21; Romans 5:1).

The entire redemption narrative is based upon the necessity of the virgin birth.

    1. Prophecy.
    2. Prophecy fulfilled.
    3. This way, Jesus doesn’t ‘inherit’ the sin of Adam,
    4. In order to take on the sins of the world.

  4. Rick Guido says:

That’s how he is God and man

  5. Tim Lewandowski says:

I highly doubt he was. But it’s not impossible to be born of a virgin. A woman could have a virgin birth nowadays. All she needs is a sperm donor. But then again it’s not like it even mattered because the prophecy never foretold the Messiah being born of a virgin. The prophecy Christianity teaches that is referring to the Messiah wasn’t. In fact we see that after we read on a little bit further after Isaiah 7:14…

“Therefore the Lord Himself shall give you a sign: behold, the young woman shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.”
    Isaiah 7:14

“And I went unto the prophetess; and she conceived, and bore a son. Then said the LORD unto me: ‘Call his name Maher-shalal-hashbaz.” Isaiah 8:3

  6. Daniel P Campbell says:

    Scripture says he was

  7. Jo Kelechi says:

For Christ to live and die for the sins of many He had to be sinless..and the seed of the man bears the “sin Gene”.. obviously there’s a mystery there.. but been conceived by the Holy Spirit made him untainted by sin.. fulfilling the necessary requirement for being a payment for the sins of many..God made Him who knew no sin to become sin..that we may be the righteousness of God in Him

  8. Bishopcs Oosterveen says:

Blood line had to be pure

  9. K-the Realest-one says:

Understand this a virgin shall conceive and you should call him Emmanuel which means God is with us in the flesh. That was a prophecy fulfilled 700 years before Christ was even born. So that is how Christ was born God and man in the flesh. God said mankind could not get this right so Jesus Christ God in the flesh came to do it his self.

To fulfill the prophecy is one of the reasons…

  12. Brent Waters says:

    Cuz of sin

  13. Thad J Kelhofer says:

This doctrine is fundamental to the Hypostatic Union of Christ without the Virgin birth there is no Messiah, our faith is in vain as the Apostle Paul said I Cor 15:14. The doctrine of the Virgin birth confirms the deity of the Messiah. This is not simply “Street cred” This is part of the fundamentals of the Christian faith. Thus, the term fundamentalist. Further, if Jesus was not born of the Virgin our soteriology would be nonexistent. When Jesus died as the God-man it was an eternal vicarious atonement for our sins.

  14. Stephen Atkins says:

So He would not have sin.

  15. Samuel Kilokwe says:

    VIRGIN AS IT WAS PROPHESIED

  16. Eric Arnold says:

Mary (Blessed Virgin Mary or Our Lady, Greek: Μαρία, Spanish: Virgen María, French: Notre-Dame, Italian: Madonna) is the name of the mother of our Lord, Jesus of Nazareth. In the Gospel accounts, Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea to a young virgin, by the Holy Spirit. The gospel of Matthew describes the virgin birth of Jesus as fulfilling the prophecy of Isaiah 7:14. The gospel of Luke relates that the angel Gabriel visited Mary in order to announce to her that she had been chosen to bear the Son of God.

While Protestants respect the life of Mary, some Protestants believe that the veneration of Mary is counter to what the Bible teaches. For some Anglican Christians Mary has an special position within God’s purpose of salvation. (Catholics, Orthodox, and Anglicans, make a clear distinction between veneration (which is also due to the other saints) and adoration which is due to God alone).

    The Website ReligionFacts states:

….most Protestants have shown a great deal of honor and respect for Mary. Martin Luther said Mary is “the highest woman,” that “we can never honour her enough,” that “the veneration of Mary is inscribed in the very depths of the human heart” and that we should “wish that everyone know and respect her.” John Calvin said, “It cannot be denied that God in choosing and destining Mary to be the Mother of his Son, granted her the highest honor.” Zwingli said, “I esteem immensely the Mother of God,” and, “The more the honor and love of Christ increases among men, so much the esteem and honor given to Mary should grow.”

While the Catholic and Orthodox churches believe that Mary remained a virgin after the birth of Jesus, most Protestants do not.

Protestants base their views on the use of the word “until” and (in some translations) “firstborn” in Matthew 1:25, as well as references to brothers and sisters of Jesus, with James the Just among those listed, in Matthew 13:55, Mark 6:3, and Galatians 1:19. .

  17. Micki Shilvock says:

Because His Father is God. If the woman that carried Him in her womb for nine months had not been a virgin no one would believe He is The Only Begotten Son of God. They would all say He had a human father.

  18. John West says:

Yes! Jesus was born of a virgin. Because God favored Marry. She had the right heart to fit the prophecy.

  19. Leah Haponski says:

Scripture is quite clear on this in both Old and New Testaments…Mary was a virgin…she “knew” no man..even after her betrothment to Joseph, he did not “know” her until after Jesus was born.

  20. Wesley A Austin says:

I have a question about whether or not Jesus if he was product of sexual contact would have been “impure”. Since sex is pleasing between man and wife but also they were not married

  21. Wesley A Austin says:

Had Jo and Mary been married he could have been a natural production

  22. Wesley A Austin says:

    Am I wrong?

  23. Aaron Paul Carruth says:

    Read your bible

  24. Robert Russell says:

Joseph took Mary as his wife an knew her not untill after the birth of Christ.

  25. Stephen Atkins says:

    It was prophesy in Isaiah

  26. Bob Jones says:

Yes He was born of the Virgin Mary because He was set apart, sinless which had to be through a woman who had not know a man, and through the Spirit and not of a human father so there would be no sin in Him, which was the only way He could die foe our sins

  27. Chika Aniakor Udu says:

    He is without sin

  28. Reggie Lee says:

Yes. To declare His Deity & To fulfill prophecy

  29. Richard Mascioli says:

He came directly from God. His Father is literally God.

  30. Wayne Adams says:

Wherefore as by one man sin entered into the world but Christ came through a virgin conceived of the Holy Ghost.

  31. Paul Swan says:

Why was He born? Be because it’s hard to stay inside a mother’s uterous much longer than nine months. That’s why he was born instead of staying in there. Any more questions?

  32. Tricia Laboy says:

Lord forgive me but some of these questions n commentary makes me wanna shake some people like a glow stick til the ? light comes on. ??? That is all. Lol.

  33. Martin P Mullan says:

Yes because he was all man and all God. His DNA was all God as he had no sin in him. His conception was a miracle.

  34. Thato Masiu says:

Our Lord Jesus Immanuel Christ MANIFESTED into earth (Matthew 1:18), conquered spiritual death (Genesis 2:16-17,3:3,6) and born into eternal life, life beyond imagination (Revelation 1:5), and we are born from creation of our Almighty God, which He COMMANDED we be fruitful and multiply through fertilization (Genesis 1:26-27). He needs not a DNA to manifest because He existed before DNA and He created the very DNA.

Our Lord Jesus Immanuel Christ is the firstborn (Revelation 1:5) from dead (Revelation 20:12-15) into eternal life.(Revelation 20:4-6).

  35. Steve Losee says:

    1. Scripture prophesied it; 2. Scripture recorded it.

  36. Jim Stair says:

Have you ever read the Bible? I guess you could start with Luke 1:34.

  37. Hein Greeff says:

Because the Bible says so and the Bible is the word of God.

  41. Letcha Kipgen says:

Whoever rejects the virgin birth of Jesus Christ is preaching another gospel.

  42. O'neil Brien says:

    Matthew 1:23
“”Behold, a VIRGIN shall conceive in her womb, and she shall give birth to a son. And they shall call his name Emmanuel, which means: God is with us.””

IF THE BIBLE SAY SO THEN THERE IS NO REASON TO BE IN DOUBT.

  43. Raul Matsuda Renteria says:

If the Word of God says He was who can argue.

  44. Naomi Girley says:

The Bible says he would come from a (virgin) woman’s seed, that means lineage. Mary is the one who traces back to David, so yes, she was a virgin

  45. Gerry Sebastian says:

the bible said it, i believe it and that settles it.

  46. Thomas Dobbins says:

Just think about it. If God wanted to He could have just “appeared out of nowhere” as a “man”.. would that have had the same effect?

Jesus was before Mary (Trinity) but yes He was born

  47. Juan M. Chavez says:

He needed to Identify himself with the humans in all aspects that Includes being born from a human Mother. Which explains his Hypostatic Nature. It is the only way that he can be a mediador between Humans and God. because he has both natures 100% Man & 100% God. Phillipiams 2:5-7

  48. Ernie Webb says:

Christ had to be born of a virgin the seed of women because if He were born of the seed of man He would have been born in sin.

  49. Alec Gerald says:

    Mike
Remember that Adam and Eve sinned before God Almighty. Then God judged them casted them out of the garden of God. So any one born of a man and woman bears the sin of Adam and Eve, so lsraelist did burn or sacrifice goats, sheep etc but that only covered the sins of man for a particular time or season. So there was need for man to be redeemed, by the shading of the blood, pure blood that’s is sinless. So on the face of the earth there’s never been anyone born of a man and woman who’s sinless. So because God who’s rich in His mercies made a way, for mankind to be saved. Jesus Christ who was there even in beginning John 1vs 1, was then made to be man by being born of a virgin woman for purity to prevail, because had Jesus came from Heaven in His form, mankind would still have not believed that he was God sent to save man.

  50. Alec Gerald says:

The reason this whole thing was was done was to restore the relationship between man and God as it was in the very beginning, hence we hear in Genesis, that at the cool of the day God would come down and fellowship with man, everyday. But ever since man sinned that stopped, but thank you again to our merciful God for that has restored, Jeremiah 33 vs 3 call unto me, says God. That relationship was restored through the shading of the blood on the mountain of calvary by our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Now we are heir with Jesus Christ in eternal glory only if we simply believe in God and Jesus Christ.
