I guess it depends on your view point. I would suggest your read the 95 these by Luther and see why he was upset at the Catholic Church. See if his reasons are biblical or if things like indulgences (were the Catholic Church charged people money to reduce their time in purgatory to get to heaven faster) are biblical.
And no church can be an apostolic church. The age of apostles stopped when the lot apostle died 1900 years ago.

I think a simple definition of the apostolic church should be the church that only: builds on the foundation of Christ and follows in the steps of the apostles – by fully obeying scripture. Any deviations based on philosophy, dogma and tradition would invalidate the apostolic state of the church. And that is what Catholicism has done.

Protestants view Rome as having fallen away from the faith once delivered. So, no. Perhaps we have all fallen away, adopted vain traditions and wacky fads, but if we have faith in Jesus, that is enough.

The catholic church is Satan. Protestants protested the roman catholic church because it did and still does despise God’s Word, The Bible, and clings to wicked and evil traditions of men.
When Luther and his followers first protested it was a protest against the wicked man made traditions of the roman catholic church. He was doing something severely frowned upon, he was reading a Bible and saw the verse “the just shall live by faith”. This one single verse totally destroys the works based faith of rome. Unfortunately over time, false prophets and false teachers have brought false beliefs into many churches. That’s why the rcc is known as the mother of harlots, but she is the biggest of the harlots, because she started it all. How wonderful it is to find an excellent Protestant Church where The Bible is taught and only The Bible! That’s something you will never find in any roman catholic church, they must teach their heretical catechism and all the heretical doctrine contained therein, to their own destruction.

Why should apostasy within the Catholic Church be more acceptable than apostasy among Protestant groups? In Christ’s messages to the churches in Revelation, he noted apostasy. For falling from their first love, for example, Christ entreated the Ephesians to repent, but he threatened to remove that church’s lampstand should they persist in their neglect.
So the question is not the apostolic heritage of the Roman Catholic Church. Ephesus could boast such a heritage. The question should be the soundness of doctrine professed by either Catholics or Protestants. That was the measure that Christ used, not the heritage of any of the churches that he criticized. And that measure had nothing to do with minor doctrinal errors. These were serious matters. Notice the stern warning the he gives to Thyatira:
“Nevertheless, I have this against you: You tolerate that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophet. By her teaching, she misleads my servants into sexual immorality and the eating of food sacrificed to idols. I have given her time to repent of her immorality, but she is unwilling. So I will cast her on a bed of suffering, and I will make those who commit adultery with her suffer intensely, unless they repent of her ways. I will strike her children dead. Then all the churches will know that I am he who searches hearts and minds, and I will repay each of you according to your deeds.” Rev 2:20-23
I would argue, consequently, that the real issue is soundness of doctrine, not claims of historical pedigree. The true heritage of any Christian church rises or falls upon the determination of that issue–and that issue only. I don’t think Christ is impressed by the tracing of historical lineage.

Learn the true history of Luther’s 95 Thesis and the corroded condition of the Catholic church during his time. Are you not aware of the 1000 years of Dark Ages imposed by the Catholic empire over this world? Murder, raids, crusades, inquisition, power grab, etc?
Are you not aware of the events of the Night of Saint Bartholomew?
Are you not aware that Peter had a wife and for centuries catholic priests used to be married noblemen who paid for their positions as cardinals and bishops? Are you not aware that the catholic church ruled Papal encyclical mandates as more important than the Bible thus prohibiting and punishing those who dared to read the Bible for themselves?
What about the reality of the thousands of cases of sexual abuse by perverted paedophile priests?
What about the prevalence of abuse and forced abortions in nuns within convents for centuries?

Believing in Jesus and having your dead spirit breathed to life by Almighty God is what makes one a Christian. Make no mistake, there are many, many born again brothers and sisters sitting in Catholic pews, just as there are many, many unbelieving pretenders, there and in every other church on the planet. We must stop believing that it is our denomination that determines our salvation, it is a belief in Christ crucified, plus nothing!

All I can say is know God personally. God will not ask you your denomination on the last day only your work in His vineyard will speak for you. No denomination has the perfect doctrinal method. Read your Bible and live by the word of God not by doctrines that differ from church to church. I’m catholic for instance and I know where I draw my lines because I know what the word of God says about such. So it’s vital ti study the word of God to show thyself approved.

The original Protestants sought to return to the Scriptures. It is the Roman Catholics that added the non-biblical doctrines of Mary, forgiveness of sin via priest, purgatory and papal infallibility.

I don’t think Protestants realize who has fallen away. Like any man made organization the Catholic Church has its ups and downs, but no “knock off” is as good as the original . Had reformers like Martin Luther worked within the church to change the issues that needed changing instead of breaking away….the world would have been a better place…

I think this actually is a good question, but if they are the fallen church then others are fallen also. we cant discriminate, we have Protestants and Catholics and other groups that are just as guilty when it comes to defilement. If the Protestant church is the guilty one, that maybe, if the Catholic church is the guilty one, that may be, but you have to remember this, the true church is the True Body of Christ, and people within the church can claim to be of the church but not truly be the church.
