   good thoughts. other thing worth pointing out is this, remember Pilate was surprised Jesus died so quickly? most people would live for a few days on the cross, but with the beatings he was dealt and the other issues and such, with the sins layed on him he died.

   Jesus died only because the Spirit of God lifted away…..which is also why He cried out. If the Spirit of God did not leave Him then he could not have died.

   The sin that brought death was from Adam and Eve. That’s why everyone must die today.
   Jesus is not the first or the only person to fast for 40 days. Elijah and Moses fasted for 40 days. Jesus being sinless had absolutely nothing to do with them being able to fast 40 days it was the Holy Spirit that sustained all three of them for 40 days fast.

   Or… Jesus fasted 40 days in the wilderness because this is possible for the human body.

   Or… Jesus was beaten badly, and to the point of death, but not to death.

   Very interesting, makes sense to me, He was perfect and without sin, so could not decay as us who are fallen and die daily and bodies aging and wear and tare. Jesus bowed his head and gave up the ghost, once he said I t was finnished. He paid the price He did not owe, I owed a dept I could not pay.

   Chet Gaskins I think you are spot on. When I read your post, actually after just watching the passion of Christ. It makes sense how the beating didn’t kill him.
   I haven’t read all the comments, but have read some and I like where you’re coming from with this. Even the 40 days and nights in the wilderness would kill anyone. But Jesus was sinless. Makes perfect sense thank you. X

    The regular fast is done by abstaining from all food, both solid and liquid, except for water. This is the type of fasting Judah’s King Jehoshaphat called for when his country was confronted with invasion (2 Chronicles 20:3).

    I understand your thoughts here and agree with some of them, but I want to explain something here. God commanded Adam to not sow into his flesh body the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil when he and his wife Eve did that they corrupted what God had created them to be. God had said if you do this you shall surely die. A question how was death implemented to Adam and Eve and what were the reasons God gave as to why death was implemented? Gen 3:22 And the Lord God said behold the man has become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now lest he put forth his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat and live forever. 23, Therefore the Lord God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from where he was taken. 24, So he drove out the man; and placed Cherubims and a flaming sword which turned every way to guard the way to the tree of life. Do you see how death was implemented? The tree of life was the only source of eternal life that God had placed on planet Earth, so then what happens to you if you are removed from the only source of eternal life? You will surely die having been removed from the only source of eternal life. So God implemented death to Adam and Eve by removing them from the only source of eternal life he had placed upon the earth. Now comes another question why did God do this? The answer is already given in Gods statement in verse 22 behold the man has become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now lest he put forth his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat and live forever. So God removed Adam and Eve from the only source of eternal life because they had gained the knowledge of good and evil. This is clear its what God has said in verse 22. OK, so Adam and Eve have been removed from the only source of perpetual life that God placed on planet earth and so now they will surely die, here the thing Adam and Eves children also had no access to the only source of eternal life and so they will die also, and so it is with all mankind since that time, we all die in Adam. 1 Cor 15:22
    So, people will say then “why do we have to die because of what one man did? And I say one man because the Apostle Paul lays the blame for death passing to all mankind squarely with the disobedience of Adam in Romans 5:12 to 19 So, why do we have to die? The male man Adam had in his flesh body the seed from which all mankind would come from, Eve has no seed within her body. Adam has corrupted his flesh body by sowing into it the fruit that God commanded him not to. The fruit Adam sowed into his body contained seed that seed produced spiritual knowledge that Adam was not supposed to have, it was that knowledge that told him he was naked and fear and shame came to him. Adams corrupted flesh body is what produces his seed, so the seed of Adam was corrupted. As all mankind come from that original corrupted seed, we are all born with the same forbidden knowledge Adam and Eve had. They were removed from the tree of life because they gained this knowledge and as we are born with it also, we to cannot have access to the tree of life and so we also have to die. Now I know what some of you are thinking! No we die because we sin this is true part it is only part of it. Why do we sin? We sin because of the knowledge of good and evil we inherited from our earthly father we are born in sin. In Psalms 51 Kind David said this during his repentance after he had sinned with Bathsheba got her pregnant and had her husband Uriah killed. Behold I was formed in iniquity and in sin did my mother conceive me. David here admits his sin but pleads his case which is that when he was being formed in the womb iniquity “perverseness, wickedness, sin” was present there while he was being formed and he adds “in sin did my mother conceive me” conception is caused by the sexual act of intercourse with the male counterpart when the male sperm is “I think you get the picture” so David is saying that his conception was sinful! not that his mother was an adulteress or anything like that, but that sin was conceived during the conception its the male seed that causes conception. So, the corrupt male seed which originated with Adam and is passed on from father to Son and in that seed is the spiritual knowledge of good and evil. So we are born of corrupted seed and thats why we need to be born again of incorruptible seed. 1 Peter 1:23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.

    So, the reason we need to be born again of incorruptible seed is because our first birth was from seed that had been corrupted. This new birth is a purely spiritual birth it has no effect upon our flesh bodies or our flesh minds, our flesh minds will need to be renewed to who we have become in Christ. Our flesh remains sinful thats why it wars against the spirit. That which is born of the flesh is flesh and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit in others words are flesh bodies come from our fathers and mothers 23 chromosomes from our father and 23 from our mother this makes up our physical genetic make-up, our bodies. But something spiritually corrupted is passed from the father also, this is why the Apostle Paul blames Adam and only Adam for sin entering into the world and as I said before because Eve has no seed with which to propagate the corruption. Yes female bodies are corrupted with sin as well as they also they come from the male seed. Perhaps we understand now why Jesus called the “second Adam” was not born of mankind’s corrupted seed. He is called the seed of the woman in Genesis 3:14 to 15 which means he is the offspring of the woman and the woman in this case is the “virgin” Mary the only woman in human history to be made to conceive a male Son via the Holy Spirit, that Son being Jesus the Son of God but also called the Son of man because his body came from mankind Mary provided that body. What is interesting is that as I said before it is a scientific fact that a child receives half of its genetic DNA from its mother and half from its father, could it be that Jesus received half his physical genetic make-up from God his Father, not saying he did but could he have? Maybe not as God himself is a spirit being. So much more I could say here but thats all for now. Grace and Peace in Jesus name Alan.

    A theology founded on error. The wages of sin is death. That death is spiritual death. Every human who reaches the age of accountability and then willfully violates the known will of God dies spiritually as the Holy Spirit leaves him or her. That is why you must be born again by the return of the indwelling Holy Spirit. On the cross when Jesus Christ became sin for you, He experienced spiritual death, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken Me”? Soon after the human Jesus experienced physical death for you.

    I think it’s important to be careful with musings like these because Scripture doesn’t actually tell us and we ought not exceed what is written. It’s possible that Jesus couldn’t die of old age but we don’t actually know because God chose to not reveal it.

    I’ve received thoughts like this too.
    And i believe these are The holy spirit sharing his thoughts, or the Fathers rather. They show his love for us, and the divine nature. Of which we are partkers.

    I like what you wrote. Bear in mind, however, that “40 days and 40 nights” is a Hebraic idiom meaning: Nobody knows how long for sure but it was quite a while” coulda been a couple weeks coulda been a year

    The best way to comprehend is to imagine an eternal God outside of time. God takes out a stop watch any given day if his adult life. He presses the stop watch and creates the world and watches it progress/regress. Now, scripture tells us that Christ is the lamb slain before the foundation of the earth. That means that God already knew Adam was going to sin and mankind was going to need the salvation plan of Christ. Before he pressed the stop watch, he already knew everything that was going to happen in those moments that the stop watch kept track of time. So before God started creation, he already knew who was going to accept Christ. Scripture tells us that while we are yet in the womb, our days are already plotted and numbered.
    So it isn’t so much that there isn’t free will and that some are destined for hell and some for heaven. It is that God already knew those that would choose and so they have been blessed and found in favor. We have always been with God in eternity. Our eternal souls are timeless. For a moment that soul is inserted into time and is separated from God, just as when Jesus was on the cross and took upon himself our sin. It caused Jesus to feel the separation from God and he cried out” why hast thou forsaken me”. It was at this moment that Jesus knew what it was like to be truly human and separated from God.
    So our time on earth and all time has already happened in the eternal. God knows all and has always known all. So the last day of man has already happened in eternity. That is how God knows who the elect are.
    God is omniscient, meaning He knows everything. Everything that was, is and will be. Gid is also omnipotent meaning that all power is within Him, of Him and by Him. God is also omnipresent, meaning that all things are before Him to view and see and He is amongst all things. Time has no relevance to this. It is all before Him at the same time and at any given time. It is because of these infallible and inseparable attributes of God, that Jesus is disqualified from being God. Jesus is as Paul stated, he is the messiah, the son of the living God.

    Jesus could endure,not because he was sinless,but because He had the supernatural strength from God,helping against the human weakness in him.

    Jesus actually died.God the Father raised him from the dead.

    Physical death is meant for everyone.. Hebrews 9:27… Also had Jesus not died there wouldn’t have been hope for man…he assured us of resurrection to escape us from eternal death… Read part B of Romans 6:23

    You are seeing this from a carnal perspective. The natural mind will not be able to understand how Jesus gave up his flesh (death)in order for us to live in the Spirit. John 3:16. The only way.we will understand Gods. word is becoming born again. He gives us a new spirit which is the Holy Spirit which will teach you all things and bring all things unto your remembrance.
