So yesterday was the memorial for Christ, the one thing Jehovah’s witnesses celebrate, the death of Jesus.
(My husband was raised a witness but doesn’t follow anything besides no holidays and the memorial. I’m trying to show them all who Jesus really is.)
So yesterday we did the memorial in our home(just my husband and I and our children), and I thought it’s all ok that I pass on the bread and wine also because of Romans 14, I didn’t want to make them stumble, but I had the plan to eat and drink in private, just the Lord and I. Anyway, I was just curious as to what all these witnesses do with the “body of Christ and blood of Christ” after the memorial, since they don’t partake of the emblems, only pass…
A life long witness (my mother in law) said to throw it in the trash… ???? I asked what the congregations do after the service and she said the same. They throw it out ?.
This has made me sick all day and I’m just at a loss…
Has anybody heard of this before? What would you say? Scripture references?
She said it has no meaning the next day so it’s ok and it’s showing a love for Jesus…
Looking forward to our study tomorrow if they don’t cancel (because I let them know there is no way I’m throwing it away, to me that is complete disrespect). Just at a loss for words and not sure if I’m more disgusted or heartbroken ?

In my church, the people serving the elements finish whatever is left so all is partaken of. I don’t really think there is a scripture reference for anything that happens after so it’s just personal preference

They do not truly comprehend the great gift and invitation. Jesus invited them to partake. Jesus commanded them; “Do THIS in remembrance of me “. What did He and the disciples do? They ate and drank. They didn’t pass it on!! And Jesus also said previously; “Sup (eat) with me!” And in Revelation, we are invited to “Come and take life’s water free!”

I don’t know about the JW customs but there is no biblical directive on what to do with the unused bread and wine. The instruction were to partake of the bread and wine in remembrance of him. Once you have partaken and renewed your commitment to worship him and utilize his atonement I see no reason to dispose of any unused bread or wine. The bread and wine are only symbols, not his actual flesh and blood.

The Unused Portim Will Ferment Because It Is A Grape Juice, Fermented Juice Will Not Be Used In Bread Breaking Coz It Toxicate Same With The Unleaven Bread. It Is Unleaven Bread, Because It Must Be Pure Not Mixed With Worldly Doctrine, Bread Represents The Word of God- And The Word Was Made Flesh And Dwelleth Among Us The Blood Is The Atonement Of Sin.

They broke bread at last supper. They ate and drank. With leftovers, Probably saved the rest of the wine. Maybe ate the bread later with jam or if it got hard tossed it. The elements are symbolic at the partaking. At another time it’s just bread and wine.
