My mom keeps talking about the « first earth age ». I’ve never read about this in the bible, but I haven’t read all of it though… is this a real thing or she is misguided?

It’s not mentioned in the Bible per say, But maybe it has to do with the first Generations before Noah….

There are two possible teachings she could be referring to.
One of them was in the Scofield Bible, and claimed that there was an entire age between Genesis 1:1 and 1:2. It’s called the “gap theory”, since of course it’s interpreting a gap between the verses. There’s no mention of this age anywhere; it was speculated in order to contain a geologic age in which dinosaur fossils would be formed and so on.
The second possibility is combined from reading 2 Peter 3:6 (which says that the flood destroyed the cosmos that existed) and 2 Cor 12:2’s language about “the third heaven” — the idea here is that the first age was before the flood and ended with the destruction/renewal of the flood, the second age is now, and the third age begins when the present cosmos is renewed/remade at Christ’s return.

Dispensational gap theory … Not try to diss your mom … But it is pure fantasy as most everything is in the various forms of Dispensationalism …
