No, read Prov 8:22-24. Its just that Gen 1:1 only seems to tell of the creation of our solar system, not the universe. Water was one of the things God created before Gen 1.

God always was. He has no beginning or end. He was here before the earth.

Jesus is the water. Living water. So in that verse, the Father is there, Jesus, the living water by is there, and the holy Spirit is there. The Trinity at creation.

First God created the heaven and the earth. Part of the earth that God created was the waters that covered the earth which he later gathered to one place so that dry land would appear.

The word “shamayim” there, in Gen. 1:1, is “Water” (drop temperature). So, it’s Impossible to have a contradiction there.

So you are incapable of reading the verse before Genesis 1:2 where is says, “…God created the heavens and the earth.”
So what would make you think this verse doesn’t matter? I don’t get it.

Please note the Bible is not a science book. You can’t accurately deduce any scientific facts from Genesis 1 & 2. We only can infer when God created “heavens and the earth”, it includes everything that are necessary ecologically connected with heavens and the earth. Otherwise, you might as well ask the chicken/egg question: “Do water comes first or oxygen & hydrogen comes first?”

Yes, it may seem like it but it is not the case: Our Lord God started creating the heavens and earth first (Genesis 1:1), then everything else (Genesis 1:3-).
The waters are part of the earth. The other part of the very waters on earth is frozen on the north and south poles.
So (Genesis 1:1-2) gives the semantics of the creation: the transcedent heavens; the discernable earth. The details of creation follows (Genesis 1:3-).

I think people here need to remember that no question is a stupid question! If any man is sincerely looking for answers to God’s word to know Him better, no matter how simple we may think the answer is, we should help them with love and respect! Making someone feel stupid because they missed something you thought was simple is arrogant and rude, and for all you know may push the person to never ask a question again. Sometimes we as Christians forget that we are not smart since we are far from it! Please remember to answer sincere questions with humility and love. Let’s imitate Jesus! It upsets me when I see Christians responding to people in this way… Some of the nicest people I know don’t know Jesus and that should not be the way things are! Imitate Him, be more like Jesus, please.

Sort of… but? These: darkness covered the face of the deep, Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters… exist without Word. They were not spoken into existence but were made to be by a sovereign act of the one true God “to be spoken to”. God double minded? It’s what makes it true that the earth is the Lord’s and everything in it.
