Fear not what mere man can do to you, fear/respect(Me) the Lord your God.

The term “fear not” references the confidence the Christian has in our God to intercede on our behalf in any circumstance when we are pursuing life in wisdom and discernment in accordance with His will.
“Make sure that your character is free from the love of money, being content with what you have; for He Himself has said, “I will never desert you, nor will I ever forsake you,”” Hebrews 13:5 (NASB)
Fearing God is to be interpreted in at least two-contextual formats.
1) Fear God for He is the only One who is able to destroy both the body and the soul in Hell.
Jesus said: “Do not fear those who kill the body but are unable to kill the soul; but rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.” Matthew 10:28 (NASB)
2) Fear of the Lord is also rendered as “reverence” or “respect” or “honor” toward our God for His great love demonstrated for you and me as He left the beauty of the Kingdom and entered Time to suffer and die on our behalf.
“He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him over for us all, how will He not also with Him freely give us all things?” Romans 8:32 (NASB)
“Fear” concerning our beautiful and gracious Lord is determined by the context and your worldview.

We fear the Lord out of reverence, or respect. We don’t fear or allow people or circumstances beyond our control to cause us to lose faith that God is sovereign and in control of all things.

There are two applications for fear . One is the fear that is respect , honor , dignity for God as form of worship . And the 2nd application is that which is paralyzing and debilitating. It is not a healthy form of fear . Must know this form of fear is a spirit . A spirit is behind this application.

Well, the fear of God refers to the fear we should have with the police or military official. We should Revere them and be careful what we do in their presence, but we should not live in fear that they are “out to get us”. God is not “out to get us” unless if we live in sin or rebellion.

Brian the fear of the Lord and just mere fear of something they are two different things.

Fearing the Lord is very important, and it should trump other fears.
What you fear dictates a lot of your decisions. -
The Scriptures tell us that the (healthy) Fear of the Lord is the beginning of all Wisdom. We do so out of reverence, humility and love for Him
