Are atheists right when they point to the less than stellar history of the Church during the Renaissance and Scientific Revolution as proof that Christianity is dangerous?
It seems to me they are cherry picking their stories and not looking at the full picture of the Church’s history.
The goal of this series was to show that Christianity is a much deeper and well-rationalized worldview than atheism. It is reasonable in its explanation of the emergence of a created order.

There are two histories in which to follow: There are the Christians and their mostly small meeting houses and home churches and there are the Pagans and their massive cathedrals and buildings.
Christian history from Jesus Christ:
– Christians
– Novations
– Puritians
– Paulicians
– Arnoldists
– Albigenses
– Anabaptist
– Waldenses
– Baptists
– Etc. To name a few
These churches (peoples) followed the teachings of Jesus Christ on the New Testament Church and were peaceable God-fearing men and women who preached the word of God throughout history including through the dark ages.
Pagan religion of Babylon and Rome:
– Extends back to Nimrod and the tower of Babel.
– In the 4th century AD Constantine melded the pagan religion of Rome with parts of Christianity forming the Roman Catholic Church.
– Thereafter Catholicism introduced infant baptism, indulgences, purgatory, Mary Saint and idol worship, and many more heresies and pagan ways.
– Throughout the dark ages, Catholicism, calling itself Christian, murdered Christians and anyone who would not convert or submit to the Roman religion. This is where Christianity falsely gets this bad reputation.
It was the Roman Catholic Church who committed these atrocities and not the Christians. So no, atheists are incorrect in washing Christians with the same brush as the pagan religions of the world.

“No religion” does not necessarily equal atheism. Did you hear about the agnostic, dyslexic insomniac who stayed awake at night, worrying about the existence of dog?
Here’s my personal, I would let them that I avoid Christian history because it always falls short of the standard of Christ. I would bring the entire focus to the person of Christ in the Scriptures, since that doesn’t fail. Jesus Christ redirected the focus a lot.
Man falls short of God’s calling all the time but get real. Atheists do even less. The leaders of atheist regimes last century (soviet Russia and Maoist communist China) killed over 100 million of their own people to preserve their version of the state, being the ultimate goal. The world is better off when people turn towards Christ’s message of love one another.
Atheists are borrowing from the Christian worldview to even claim anything as “bad, dangerous, evil, good or beautiful”
They have no justification for these terms. For to them, we are just star dust
