I don’t have to defend my Faith. My Faith in God defends me.
By keeping mine eyes fixed unto our Lord Jesus Christ
“By the impossibility of the contrary.”
I give reason for the hope I have in Christ.
I’m not sure if you looking for practical ways of defending my Faith, but if it’s so then it’s a case by case.
Read your Bible.
Familiarize to all fundamental doctrines that teaches about Salvation.
Be committed to God.
Study.
Be true to your faith in God.
It doesn’t need defending.
I dont need. Fruits of my Christian faith defend me. So simple.
VERY CAREFULLY
By begging God to use my lips to proclaim truth over my ego. For the spirit to talk through me, because I’m not an evangelist, but my God is. I’m an empty vessel, ready for the spirit to take over at any moment! This is why sin is something to avoid….because grieving the spirit keeps us unready when we NEED to be ready to evangelize. Always be ready….
The devil will always come along and raise false teachers. Study the faith so we must defend it
As ty he bible tells us 1 Peter 3:15
By proclaiming the truth of God’s word and living it out thru the actions in ur life
1. Show God exists: use the Kalam cosmological argument combined with the fine tuning theory to, at the very least, force an atheist to concede that faith in the existence of God is reasonable.
2. Distinguish Christianity from other religions: establish the concept of man as sinful, and the need for salvation by grace through faith. This is a major distinction as most other religions are works based
3. Establish Jesus as God: very easy, after all everyone dies but Jesus rose from the dead. No one can disprove that or explain it naturalistically. The resurrection is a key point in the defense.
4. Defense of the Bible: dont know how many times ive typed this in the group but the Bible is not 1, but is 66 books written over 1600 years by 35 authors from kings to peasants, written in 4 languages that cross references itself thousands of times and makes tens of thousands of proven predictions of future events.
5. I mean if all else fails there comes a point where you just pray – after all God is all powerful and all knowing – His Spirit will speak up in your defense in a court (cant remember the verse for my life), also pray God touches the offense’s heart
I don’t defend it in the traditional sense of the word. But if asked a genuine question, I will try to respond to the best of my ability.
It depends on who you’re defending it to. You can’t win a Muslim by proving God exists; the Muslim already believes it. You can’t win an atheist by showing Muhammad affirmed the Bible, they don’t think he was a prophet. You can’t win a Catholic by showing historical evidence of the resurrection, they already know Jesus lives. Each man has his own religion, and so each man has a different requirement to reach them. Always ask “what do you believe?” Ten work from there.
I need the sacrifice of CHRIST.
By the teaching s of Biblical Apostles and Prophets , Gal 1:6 -9,Eph 2:6-9 . We can only defend Christian faith with the words of writings of the founders of Christianity, the Apostles not with the founders of Churches.
Romans 5:6-8
You cannot Defend by your own self. But The Scripture itself will defending you. Because the Word Is The source of Truth. Not yourself.
We don’t defend our faith using arguments… it shall be shown by what fruit we bear..
Inashamedly
The gospel is a logical argument
When we speak Jesus and him crucified he defends himself and him in us. Our job is not to save, we speak Jesus from our hearts ? and the Holy spirit convicts. And pricks. So either they will receive or become angry. Either one.
By using the full armor of God.. Eph 6
By studying diligently everyday and practicing what you study
Thank you all for your thoughful comment i will give my conclusion on this topic after few days..waiting for more scholars to comment.
Thank you
faith in action……………
With the help of the Holy Spirit ?
It depends on the audience. I give cosmological reasons for those of a more scientific mind, philosophical for those of a more existential mind, historical for the history buff, scriptural for the literary buff. Add in the prompting of the Holy Spirit to each situation and that’s my “methodology” I use the term loosely ?. 1 Peter 3:15!
With scripture
By showing love
Swords mostly :p
In total submission to the Father. When you give your heart, soul and mind to Him He will use you very effectively. He will use what you know and connect that with what is sought or needed. In the meantime just study His Word diligently.
Watch alot of frank turek on YouTube.
With difficulty. But there is so much need out there for truth.
With scriptures. It’s the only way.
For me, defend my Christian faith through the word of Christ, by reading the Bible the word of truth
Bible truth and facts
I don’t need to! I know what I believe and no-one else’s view matters (other than God). We are called to share the good news so that others know what Jesus did (and can do) for them.
It depends on the question raised.
By the Holy Blood of the Lamb of God, by the Holy Word of God Who is Truth and Life Everlasting, Who is Jesus the Christ in the flesh/Incarnate. How do you defend your faith?
Only thru the Bible, nothing less, nothing more
through the blood shed of our Lord and Savior Jesus christ of Nazareth and of the atonement of Healing by His broken body on the Cross
Your personal testimony is your best tool. What you have seen, heard and know to be true.
My faith needs no defense. I share my testimony openly. If I’m persecuted for it, I take that as a badge of honor and shake the dust off my feet. Seed planted. God will water it if He knows it will bear fruit.
I dont
Study of the word and daily interaction with non-believers through evangelism.
After a few months, you’ve pretty much heard it all.
I think this is a good question. I use two things apologies and the bible. I think it’s important to understand why we believe what we believe in order to better evangelize.
Begin with WHY u know God exists. This can be proven non biblically and can move a non believer or even someone questioning their faith towards finding the truth of Jesus.
To all that say that they don’t need to defend their faith, the Bible says otherwise: Apologia:Always Ready to Give a Defense for the Hope that is in You 1 Peter 3:15
We are commanded by God to defend our faith actually. I think it can be dangerous when we dont have plausible answers for what/ why we believe.
By being as rational and biblical as I can. 🙂
By your fruits
Always remember that the intellectual is often a front for the heart. Aim for the heart. Use the head if necessary
The same way you defend your love for your dear wife
The one and only way of defending your Christian faith is adhering to the tenets of Christianity; believing and doing what the faith (Christianity) stands for. Basically it is a lifestyle on the character of Christ. So your check on defence will always ask you, yourself the question, “are my characters that of Christ’s or betraying Christ?”
If there was no bodily resurrection, there’s no Christianity. Case closed.
We need to study God’s Word. We need to ask questions on things we dont understand. Ask God to reveal to us,
Remain in him and trust him.
Then we can be sure we can discern false teachings & we will be able to lead others to Christ.
Very interesting question Lerminglen Kamei.
“but sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence; and keep a good conscience so that in the thing in which you are slandered, those who revile your good behavior in Christ will be put to shame.”
1 Peter 3:15-16 NASB
I Don’t have to defend it. No Logical alternative exists.
Thru, The Holy Spirit. Anything else is vanity on my part. ?
Evidence
Depends on the objection
In a way that shows kindness, patience, and correcting with gentleness.
And the Lord’s servant must not be quarrelsome but kind to everyone, able to teach, patiently
enduring evil, correcting his opponents with gentleness.
-2 Timothy 2:24-25
I remember a quote from someone that said something in these lines… “Even if you have won an argument, yet you are both angry, you still lost.”
I defend my faith by being kind and I have a bible study
In spirit and truth
Using various principles of historicity, demonstrate that the Jesus of History was truly the person the Gospels make him out to be.
Once the alternative of “legend” is off the table, hit the unbeliever with Lewis’ trilemma.
I tell them that I am a Christian Spiritualist, anyone who doesn’t like it, well that’s tough!
The Christians Standard of Truth is the Word of God.
Those who deny that the Word of God is the Standard have no Standard as it all becomes relativistic and meaningless.
I stand on the word of God.
With The Sword.
I mostly defend my faith in my walk.
The Christian defends the gospel of Jesus Christ by proclaiming it for what it is – according to Romans 1:16 it is the power of God unto salvation for everyone you believes.
How does one believe?
According to Phil. 1:29, belief is given; it is not mustered up by the individual.
Philippians 1:29
For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake
What is something else that the power of God does?
According to to 1 Peter 1:5, the power of God keeps His people through His gift of faith.
1 Peter 1:3-5
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
4 To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,
5 Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
1 Peter 3:15-16
“but in your hearts sanctify Christ as Lord. Always be ready to make your defense to anyone who demands from you an accounting for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and reverence. Keep your conscience clear, so that, when you are maligned, those who abuse you for your good conduct in Christ may be put to shame.”
Colossians 4:6
“Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer everyone.”
Matthew 5:43-44
“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ 44 But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,”
#1. Know WHAT you believe.
#2. Know WHY you believe what you believe.
#3. Be able to communicate that to others effectively.
I call it Apologetics 101.
This is the most basic principle I learned from Voddie Baucham’s sermon series on “Expository Apologetics”
For some the historical events portrayed by the authors of the Gospel is unreliable, a myth. However, I find it not only historical reliable but also true that he not only lived once among us, but was also the way, the truth and the life.
I don’t feel that I need to. Why would any Christian?
No coward died and rose again. Jesus alone died and rise again and then His disciples are drawing a long line, we’ll join the line and draw it to heaven. Lol.
