Yes. Death is seperation. When we die physically we are separated from the material realm. When we die spiritually we are separated from God.

When God said he would die it literally translates “dying you will die”. In other words you will begin to and eventually die. Death was not a thing until Adam sinned.

God drove Adam out of Eden, that Genesis 3. He then lived up to 930 yrs before he died, that’s Genesis 5. So he did not.

Spiritually but not physically. Physical death comes after which you can see in Genesis 5:5.

Adam had access to a tree called The Tree of Life and he was banned from coming to pick its fruit.. so yes he did die.

The Hebrew doesn’t mean that he will die immediately or die spiritually. What it means is that he would be worthy of death or mortal.

Most commonly, biblical scholars have proffered these answers to t regards to the “death of Adam” and the eating the forbidden fruit from the tree of knowledge of good and evil:
(1) a spiritual death is under consideration, in which Adam and Eve’s formerly intimate fellowship with God was shattered; (2) on the day in which the first couple ate the forbidden fruit, they lost access to the life-sustaining tree of life, and therefore began to die physically; or (3) a combination of the two. Obviously the spiritual, and eventual physical, deaths of Adam and Eve were consequences of their sin (cf. Romans 5,6). And, such an interpretation does relieve the difficulty of this text. There is, however, another possible explanation that is worthy of consideration. The following textual and grammatical considerations suggest that a natural, physical death might have been involved in this divine judgment.

There is nothing called spiritual death in the bible.
God was referring specifically to physical death.
Genesis 2:17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for IN THE DAY that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely DIE.
Adam died physically ON THE DAY he ate from the forbidden tree because God’s terminology is very clear that Adam will “RETURN TO THE GROUND WHERE HE WAS TAKEN” and this cannot be equated to ‘spiritual death’.
But Adam continued to live for 930 years after eating from the forbidden tree, so how do we reconcile the fact that God promised death ON THE DAY HE ATE?
It’s simply!
A DAY with God is as A THOUSAND YEARS.
Psalms 90:4 For A THOUSAND YEARS in thy sight ARE BUT AS YESTERDAY when it is past, and as a watch in the night.
2 Peter 3:8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that ONE DAY IS WITH THE LORD AS A THOUSAND YEARS, AND A THOUSAND YEARS AS ONE DAY.
So Adam died on the day[930 years old before he could complete 1000 years] he ate from the forbidden tree.
So there is no spiritual death here.

The Hebrew literally translating “dying you shall die.” Which is saying the process of death begins. Death enters humanity.

He died spiritually and physically in a sense that now he would have a mortal body that would die and spiritually he died because he would sin and “no unclean thing can dwell in the presence of God” when we sin, we are separated from God but Jesus Christ allows us to be redeemed and enables as we excercise our faith in Him.

What do you mean by the question? Do you mean did he die instantaneously? Or do you mean did he die at a later date?
If you mean the former, no. We have God in the garden speaking with Adam after he ate the fruit. Plus the Bible records that he lived for several hundred years after he ate in the garden.
If you mean the latter, then yes. He died at a later date after eating the fruit so we can comfortably say yes to that.
There is also the spiritual element to discuss. Interestingly enough the Bible doesn’t actually tell us whether Adam or Eve will go to heaven. So we can’t event for sure if they repented and received forgiveness for their sins.

Adam death became certain because he ate the fruit. And after eating he started the long painful road to death.

Oddly people insert the idea of some kind of “spiritual death” into the text, but it says nothing about that.

Before the fall, there was no death, after the eating of the fruit, corruption and death came in, thereafter man kind die. The only way by which that is rectified is by the Holy Narrow Way that God/Jesus opened for us.

His death became assured at that moment. IE he was doomed to die because he lost access to the tree of Life and thus lost access to Immortality, thus beginning mortal, thus introducing death to all humanity so that now all of us must die. Genesis 3 tells us all this.

That iswhy Jesus is necessart and God’s gift of faith. Otherwise we can not comprehend the truely spiritual. We are only deluding ourselvs if we think otherwise.
