Both. God still needs men to communicate His word to others so God DOES need man, just some more than others.

God does not need man, He wants man. To say God needs anyone or anything implies He’s not perfect or complete witin Himself. Rather God desires and chooses to be in a relationship with man. God created man because of Grace. As my BTh professor put it, we’re an extension of God’s love.
On the other hand, man needs God, for without Him, man would not have been created, nor continue to exist.

God made us so we would worship Him, look at what He gave us in return, the gift of life, a beautiful earth to live in, filled with awesome design and wonder. Our senses allow us to see, hear, taste, touch and smell, we can love and be loved and we can choose. He gave us free will so if we chose not to worship Him we could, we still get the free gift of life, only no eternity with Him when we die . ?

It is really absurd to can conclude that God did not need us – How can anyone really create something that is not needed? On top of that How can HE allow HIS only begotten Son to die for us? Surely GOD needs us thus going all out to have us.
