The Houthi rebels in Yemen, backed by Iran, have entered the war with Israel after it launched drones and missiles at the south of the country earlier today.

As the war in the Middle East between Israel and Hamas in Gaza intensifies, the Houthi Rebels in Yemen have decided they want in on the action and officially entered the conflict today. But truth be told, they’ve been firing rockets all last week, many of which were intercepted by American forces stationed in the Mediterranean Sea. To the north, incoming attacks from Hezbollah continue on a daily basis. As if that wasn’t enough, global antisemitism is skyrocketing. Now would be a pretty good time to know what’s contained in your King James Bible.

The Wall Street Journal reports that “This weekend hundreds of rioters in Dagestan, Russia, stormed an airport in search of Jewish travelers. Mobs raided hotels in other parts of the North Caucasus looking for Jews, and a Jewish community center under construction in the city of Nalchik was the target of an apparent attack. Germany has witnessed a spate of anti-Semitic incidents, including an attack with Molotov cocktails against a synagogue in Berlin on Oct. 18. Two Jewish schools in London closed for a period over safety concerns, and some British Jews no longer feel safe wearing visible symbols of their faith. Americans like to believe such things couldn’t happen in the U.S. They have. The Anti-Defamation League last week reported a 388% increase in anti-Semitic incidents from Oct. 7-23 compared with the same period a year ago. ”

Yemen’s Houthis enter war on Israel and vow to ramp up attacks as conflict spirals

FROM THE EXPRESS UK: The Houthis are part of Iran’s “Axis of Resistance” and have rallied behind Hamas since the October 7 attacks. They have been at war with Yemen’s internationally recognized government since 2014 and control the capital city of Sana’a.

Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree said the group launched a “large number” of missiles and drones toward Israel and that it would continue to attack “to help the Palestinians to victory”. While the Houthis have launched missiles at Israel since Tel Aviv declared war on Hamas, this is the first time the group has publicly claimed credit for the attacks.

The televised statement confirmed fears that the conflict could spread regionally with various Iranian-backed regional actors joining the fray as Israel attempts to destroy Hamas in the Gaza Strip.

Speaking of an attack launched earlier today, Saree said: “The Yemeni Armed Forces confirm that this operation is the third operation in support of our oppressed brothers in Palestine and confirm that we will continue to carry out more qualitative strikes with missiles and drones until the Israeli aggression stops.”

Tuesday’s attack saw the Arrow missile defence system used for the first time in the conflict. The system is intended to take out long-range ballistic missiles as opposed to smaller ballistic rockets often launched by Hamas from Gaza.

The IDF said of the attack: “All aerial threats were intercepted outside of Israeli territory. No infiltrations were identified into Israeli territory.”

It’s unclear how Israel will respond to the announcement of continued Houthi attacks. Israeli national security adviser Tzachi Hanegbi called the attempted strikes “intolerable” without elaborating.
