“It is much better to do things you cannot explain than explain things you cannot do.”

Nassim Nicholas Taleb

Don’t become obsessed with the plan, stay focused on planning.

Planning is about the direction you need to go based on the results you want to achieve.

Planning gets you started, but your plan should always be written with a pencil (with a big eraser!).

Planning, at best, is wise guessing. How can it be otherwise? None of us know what the future holds.

But what good planning does is increase the odds of success. You make your plans, then comes the promising unforeseen surprises and possibilities and the unexpected detours and setbacks, and then you get your eraser out and make adjustments and, like the directions on your shampoo bottle, you do it all over again…and again…and again.

That’s planning.

The ONE THING for today: Don’t beat yourself up when your plan is fuzzy or fails. Stay focused on what you hope to achieve and just keep going in that direction. Its the process of planning – not the most current edition of your plan – that will get you there.

A man’s heart plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps.
