“Worry often gives a small thing a big shadow.”

―Swedish proverb

Heller Keller, the first deafblind person to earn a college degree, once said: “I do not want the peace that passes understanding. I want the understanding which brings peace.”

I get it.

I hate walking in the darkness.

I hate not knowing.

But I’m going to still have to go with the Bible, there are just somethings we are not going to know, at least in this lifetime.

And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:7 (ESV)

Maybe you’ve read Charles Dickens’ classic, Great Expectations. One of the main characters, Miss Havisham, was stood up by her would-be groom on the day of her wedding. She was devastated. I’ll not give away the plot, but Miss Havisham never got over it and never moved forward from that event. For example, she stopped all the clocks in her home at 9:40 (the moment she learned of her would-be groom’s rejection).

From that moment on, she stopped living. She was tied to the past.

I’ve observed a lot of people like that in my life. The the pain of unanswered questions, the fear of an unknown future, drags them down and robs them of peace.

You must not let that happen.

As I hear someone once say, “I don’t know what God is doing right now, but I know God, and that’s enough.”

The ONE THING for today: Until the end of time, tomorrow’s coming with or without you. Live my friend! Dare to believe that tomorrow can be better and, in faith, dare to plant seeds today that can will help produce a better future in some tomorrow.

The peace will come in its own due time.
