First of all, this is not about a song by Elvis Presley from 1962. Almost 80 years ago, my mom received me as a “gift” from the Giver of Life. Then, four years later, she received another, and four years after that, one more. From those moments to the end of her life on this earth, she never missed a day thanking the Father for my brother, sister, and me. Her greatest wish was that when it would be time for us to leave this earth, we would be returned to Him who sent us originally. (ESV – All emphasis is mine.)
To say I lived a sinless life would be a lie and a sin in itself. Had the Lord required my soul 40 years ago, my next appointment would be in the line at the Great White Throne Judgment of Revelation 20:11-15.
For review, those verses state, “Then I saw a great white throne and Him who was seated on it. From His presence, earth and sky fled away, and no place was found for them. And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Then another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged by what was written in the books, according to what they had done. And the sea gave up the dead who were in it; Death and Hades gave up the dead who were in them, and they were judged, each one of them, according to what they had done. Then Death and Hades were thrown into the Lake of Fire. And if anyone’s name was not found written in the Book of Life, he was thrown into the Lake of Fire.”
While this is a fairly long summary, it should be noted that everyone at this judgment is already condemned, and there is no chance of anyone there ending up in Heaven with Jesus. What will be determined is the degree of punishment each one there will receive forever.
For all who left this earth from the beginning of time to our Savior’s sacrifice at Calvary, yet were in the will of God, they will join all from Calvary to the end of this earth at the Judgment Seat of Christ.
Paul states in 2 Corinthians 5:10, “For we must all appear before the Judgment Seat of Christ, so that each one may receive what is due for what he has done in the body, whether good or evil.” We will gain or lose rewards, but our forever will still be in Heaven with our Savior forever.
This is what our Savior gave Himself as our perfect blood sacrifice to accomplish. God allowed the blood of animals and birds prior to the Cross, but only as a temporary measure until the perfect, sinless blood was shed once and for all, for all who would receive and accept His Son.
Hebrews 10:4; “For it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins.” Hebrews 10:14; “For by a single offering, He has perfected for all time, those who are being sanctified.” And finally, Hebrews 10:17; “then He adds: I will remember their sins and their lawless deeds no more.”
For anyone to say that they believe Jesus is real and, because of that, they’re saved, they haven’t gone quite far enough. James 2:19 states, “You believe that God is one, you do well. Even the demons believe and shudder.”
The pathway to the Savior is not complicated, yet for some it is considered “hard” because they believe there has to be more to being saved” (Matthew 7:13-14).
The steps are to realize that we are all sinners (Romans 3:10; Romans 3:23, and Romans 6:23). We must realize that on our own, we could never do anything to earn or buy our Salvation (Ephesians 2:8-9). We are saved only through the blood of our Savior, and all who will truly call out to Him will be saved (Joel 2:32, Acts 2:21, and Romans 10:13).
Because of the original sin in the Garden of Eden in Genesis 3, all humans have a sin nature, and we will sin to our last breath on earth. However, all who have Jesus as their Savior have a pathway to forgiveness, as given in 1 John 1:8-10. God never goes back on a promise, so we can be assured that when we tell Him we sinned and ask His forgiveness, He will do so. Once we finally leave this earth, we will receive immortal imperishable bodies that will last forever, and have a mindset such as our Savior has that is immune to temptations.
It is important to remember that when our Savior came to this earth as a human, His blood never mixed with his mother Mary, His father Joseph, or anyone else. His blood shed at Calvary was, and is, the only sinless blood sacrifice that will ever take place on this sinful planet.
Next point: to have God as our Father, we must receive and accept His Son Jesus in order for the Holy Spirit to come and live within us. No Son means No Father, and No Holy Spirit. That’s as lost as anyone can get.
John 14:6 is absolutely straightforward truth from Jesus: “And Jesus said to him, I am the Way and the Truth and the Life; no one comes to the Father except through Me.”
Besides this verse, Matthew 11:27, Luke 10:22, John 3:18, John 3:36, 1 John 2:23, 1 John 5:10-12, and Acts 4:12 all tell us that to have the Father, we must have the Son, and vice versa. There are no “Except For…” verses.
There is a day coming soon that will signal this era has ended, and a seven-year tribulation will begin that will be worse than anything that this earth has ever experienced.
There will be a “man of lawlessness” who will come out and be the ruler of this entire planet. He and his assistant – the false prophet – will be totally controlled by Satan, and most of Earth’s population will pledge allegiance to them.
Prior to their entrance, 2 Thessalonians 2 tells us that He who is “restraining” them must be removed. That would be the Holy Spirit, and if He is removed, all that He indwells must be removed as well. God promises that all who have His Son as their Savior will be removed to keep them from the wrath (1 Thessalonians 1:10, 1 Thessalonians 5:9-10, and Revelation 3:10).
This will be an instant event known as the “Rapture,” where all true believers at that time will be taken up to meet Jesus in the air. This is described in 1 Corinthians 15:51-53 and 1 Thessalonians 4:13-17. By the way, the word “Rapture” is not in the Bible but has been given that name to describe the “taking up” of all believers.
While it will still be possible for people to receive and accept Jesus after the Rapture, their outcome will most likely be martyrdom. It would be so much better to have already become a member of our Savior’s precious flock than to be left behind to face Satan’s wrath against everything that pertains to Christianity.
In today’s world, we are already seeing signs of persecution for anyone who professes a relationship with Jesus. To be left behind and then to claim Jesus as Savior would be worse than we could possibly imagine right now.
Just about 40 years ago, a clear image of this came into my mind, and I firmly believe it was because of “prayer warriors.” One in particular was my mom. I give thanks and praise to the Father that she knew I had called out to be truly saved before she passed away. Our prayers today include asking the Father to have the Holy Spirit touch the hearts of all our loved ones, and especially any who have not called out to be saved.
God will force no one to accept His Son, but all who truly do so are promised eternal life in Heaven with Him.
The signs of the end of this era on earth are in several places of the Bible, but especially Matthew 24, Mark 13, Luke 21, and 2 Timothy 3. There are already those who believe this is folly, just as Paul said they would in 1 Corinthians 1:18.
John tells us that antichrists and false prophets were here in the first century A.D. and would only get worse, especially near the end of this age (1 John 1-5).
Now would be a great time to consider your “forever” and to call out to our Savior to come into your heart, forgive you, and prepare a place in Heaven for you (John 14:1-3). He is never too busy to receive your plea.
Remember, you have not sinned so greatly that you can’t be forgiven (Psalm 103:11-12). The unforgivable sin is to take your last breath here without having Jesus as your Savior.
There are no special words to say other than, “Lord, I’ve sinned and ask your forgiveness. Please be my Savior forever.” Just believe what you say, and say what you mean. He would love to add everyone on earth to His flock, but Jesus knew there would be more who accept the earth and what it supposedly offers than to accept His free offer of forgiveness and eternity in Heaven.
Time is getting critical. All signs that have to be done before the tribulation starts are completed. The Rapture would be the only thing left, as we have to be gone before the antichrist comes out. Jesus said we would not know the day or hour, but it will come “in the twinkling of an eye” (1 Corinthians 15:52).
Hope to see you on the other side of this evil planet, and in our forever Home with a Father, Savior, and Holy Spirit who truly loves us.
Maranatha – Come, Lord Jesus!
