The Church of God teaches heart felt holiness and not demonstrable outwardly. So it is possible that this person has inward holiness?
If not then how many piercings can you have and still be inwardly holy?

I personally believe if you have “holiness” on the outside without holiness on the inside that is just worthless religion. If you say you have “holiness” on the inside and it not show up on the outside that is STUPIDITY!!!!

One cannot be without the other. If you’re saved, SANCTIFIED, and Holy Ghost filled, then the Spirit that cleaned you up on the inside will do it on the outside.

can God move a make a mountain so big he cant move it? as turned off as we may be by this appearance, its Gods place to determine his holiness, not ours. remember Sidon was destroyed for its arrogance and sins of ommission not for its homosexuality

Surely he exceeds the limits of “doing all things in moderation” but i can imagine that some of you might disagree with what i wear to church. John the baptist probably looked weird too but the message was true.

What if this guy got smacked in the face? There are a lot of reasons his choice of accessories don’t make sense.
I wonder about people with nose piercings. Have you ever seen someone try to physically hold in a sneeze with their fingers on their nose? If someone with a nasal piercing forgets the nose ring one day and does that, do they squirt the person next to them.
It’s a great idea for a Candid Camera type gag. Instead of the guy at the diner bar squirting the person next to him every time he gets a spoonful of grapefruit, The person in the restaurant with the removed nose piercing can sneeze, and the guy next to him gets a squirt of water to the face from a hidden squirt gun.

I think of people like this as misguided, maybe mentally off and obviously throwing away their chances of making a good living. Charles I personally like people who dress in a way that suggests that they are aware that their body is the temple of the Holy Ghost and that when they come to church they are wise enough not to over dress or to under dress and that goes for both men and women. For those on the platform and those in the pew..

I imagine you folk were the ones saying the 60’s long haired hippies couldn’t be Christians too. And women can’t run in marathons cause their uterus’s would fall out. Is there anything old white men cannot ruin? No. Give them enough time lol

Would have to council this young man if he claimed to be a Christian. If he did claim that he has left his brain at the door somewhere.

There’s no doubt this guy isn’t starting above reproach like ask Christians should which gives an indication of his maturity level of he were a Christian. But that’s about as far as I can go with it

I came to Christ from a jail cell, worldly, drugs, alcohol, terrible attitude, and I can tell than when Christ gets on the inside, you clean up your act. Christ made a mega difference in my life. Thanks for asking the question, I think the church world as a whole is way to leniate now, opening up services with skynard, and kansas and other worldly songs. Jesus gave me something called Conviction’s, I still walk in them to this day.

agree the church is to worldly but once we start enforcing ideas of standards that are not in scripture then not only are we adding to scripture but who gets to set the srandard?

There is allot of scriptures to help understand outward adornments, in my opinion anyways, we should always seek to honor Christ in all we do, I love our practical commitments. I have a tattoo i got in 81 in the Army, I got saved in 86, but I would never go get one know. I would seriously doubt if this person pictured here is a Christian, but in our day one might not know. I would personally help the young man see the Bible for what it is, I would never put him down but I would preach the truth to him and show him with love the way of Christ.

Do you consider breaking a practical commitment a sin?

My issue would be if he continued to do this after becoming a Christian.
I would counsel him by examining his self image and then address the topic of how we steward (God’s supply) and what He allows into our lives and hands.
I would then introduce him to other Christians that had piercings and had to remove them in later years due to health reasons (Example one man in his 20’s removed his lip piercings due to them cutting grooves into the enamel of his teeth). -
I would bet he is a very sweet man. Kind and non judgmental. But that isn’t a requirement for America’s Christian.

wow. i know of a pastor’s wife who dress from ankle to neck completely covered but it is skin tight and shows off her body. is she saved? also another pastors wife whos a horrible gossip but no makeup and nothing but dresses. saved? I’d like to point out that the judgmental attitude is a greater sin than the piercings. Jesus said judge not lest you also be judged. i wonder if people who exclude others from heaven will also be excluded from entering?
