Good evening, and welcome to #ourCOG Daily Brief for November 23, 2025.
Today, we’re tracking global developments, including the conviction of Brazil’s Bolsonaro, seen by some as justice for pandemic losses. We also see the grave humanitarian situation in Sudan, where families, particularly women, are struggling for safety after fleeing El Fasher, which recently fell to a paramilitary group, leaving many hungry and separated. Domestically, discussions around Venezuela’s Nicolás Maduro are stirring historical reflections, as U.S. comments about taking him out echo complicated memories of the 1973 U.S.-backed coup in Chile.
For those who joined us this morning, you would have experienced our consistent worship service, as we offered our ’11 am EST Service’ multiple times, ensuring everyone had a chance to partake in spiritual reflection.
From our FaithNews RSS feed, we’re noting the release of the 75th Anniversary Edition of the “Red Back Hymnal” by Church of God Publications. Also featured are “Business Bible: Linking Business News to Bible Principles,” news of Pentecostal Leaders ministering in Coffeyville, Kansas, and Robeck set to present the Azusa Lecture on Evangelism at Azusa Street Mission.
In our latest prophecy news update, we’re following the unanimous vote in Wolfforth, Texas, which has made it the 85th city nationwide to become a ‘sanctuary for the unborn.’ Politically, President Trump has accused Democratic lawmakers, who are also veterans, of ‘seditious behavior punishable by death’ for a video encouraging military members to uphold the Constitution. On the economic front, the USDA is moving to halt fraud and abuse by requiring SNAP recipients to reapply for the program after finding thousands of instances of fraud and abuse. And internationally, delegates are continuing to develop a UN Framework Convention on International Tax Cooperation.
Finally, turning to this day in Jewish history, November 23rd marks significant historical moments. In 912, Otto the Great was born, a figure whose reign saw Rabbis in the Rhineland reaching out to their counterparts in Palestine regarding reports of the Messiah’s appearance. Then, in 1160, Pope Innocent III, one of the most powerful medieval popes, was born. He famously convened the Fourth Lateran Council in 1215, which reinstated old prohibitions against Jews in public office and introduced the requirement for Jews to wear a distinctive identifying sign on their clothing.
