Good evening, and welcome to #ourCOG Daily Brief for February 2, 2026.

Today in U.S. news, Meta’s new smart glasses are giving us a glimpse into the future of computing, while the latest release of Jeffrey Epstein files is making headlines, though they may not provide all the answers many are seeking. A brief government shutdown has wrapped up, but not before setting the stage for future debates on immigration enforcement and funding. On the cultural front, Minneapolis continues to inspire protest songs, with artists like Billy Bragg sharing their perspectives. Meanwhile, President Trump’s nomination of Kevin Warsh to head the Federal Reserve has calmed markets, potentially charting a new course for the central bank. Shifting to world news, Canada is looking to strengthen its ties to Detroit with the new Gordie Howe International Bridge, even as it seeks to lessen its economic dependence on the U.S. Amidst this, our correspondents share their deep appreciation for the Winter Olympics, highlighting the awe-inspiring discipline and humanity that define the Games.

Moving on to some of our recent video offerings, we encourage you to “Start Getting Your House In Order!” with Perry Stone. We also have a short on why you should “Stop Carrying Offense” for healing and spiritual growth, and a special “Convocation” with Phil Cook from February 1st, 2026.

In our Faith News digest, we’re seeing headlines about a multi-million dollar gift launching a new era for SMCH. Nonprofits are also exploring new fundraising models to address what’s being called a ‘donor exodus.’ The IFCJ is expanding its support in Syria by delivering much-needed ambulances, and a Black History Celebration is set to take place on February 4th.

For our latest prophecy news update, discussions are centered around the deadly Minneapolis shootings. A police union leader attributes these incidents to blocking ICE coordination, while an attorney argues the Alex Pretti shooting was legally justified due to his interference with a federal officer. Commentators are also suggesting that events in Minneapolis and other ‘hotspots’ reveal a sponsored revolution, with some Democrats being labeled as ‘useful idiots’ for globalist forces. Amidst this, White House border czar Tom Homan has indicated that federal agents will begin to be pulled out of Minnesota once state officials commit to cooperating with Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Finally, in Jewish history, looking back at February 2nd, we note several significant events. In 450, Justin I was born; he would later become Byzantine Emperor, during whose reign the Beth Alpha synagogue was constructed. Fast forward to 506, Alaric II, King of the Visigoths, promulgated The Breviary of Alaric, a collection of Roman law that unfortunately contained several anti-Semitic statutes. And in 962, Pope John XII crowned Otto I as Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire, a few years after the birth of Gershom ben Judah, who would become known as Rabbeinu Gershom Me’Or Hagolah, ‘Our teacher Gershom the light of the exile,’ and establish Mainz as a prominent center of Talmudic learning.
