WHAT WAS MISSING. The next time you listen to a CoG sermon, I challenge you to listen for what is missing. Get your pencil out and a sheet of paper and lay it in your bible as if you are taking notes.
Here is a quote from an old western story that illustrates what I mean.” The old El Paso trail was unfenced, innocent of grading, gravel, culverts or telephone poles.” So many CoG sermons might be described as; free of any reference to modern times, without quotes to add credibility, without meat and the milk unfresh.
Is there anything that the lay listener can do to improve content? It is very hard to effect the sermon from the pew and yet the content and quality of the message is very important to everyone in the pews as well as to those we hope to invite to hear it.

  1. Without quotes from what? No mention of modern times. I do agree no meat, because that is judging. They get plenty of milk but from where?

  2. Why the purpose is to teach from bible not cog minutes. I never quote from cog because it had no relevance.
