The Church of God Evangel reported on an Assembly of God preacher who moved his credentials to the Church of God. I don’t have the date but it is in the early history of COG!
This is a major news item (maybe then it was) but what are your thoughts of ministers moving from AOG to COG or COG moving to AOG?
Happens all the time. Many COG pastors have told me that they would have left the COG to go with the A/G but did not want to leave the security of the COG system that allowed for church swapping.
Put another notch in your gun evangelism.
If the church offers little or no opportunities to minister ( pastor or evangelize) you go were the opportunity is. The doctrine is about the same so u are no compromising your beliefs.
Church of God is more political than AOG.
The AOG and COG are all the same trace their origin.
Also the Church of God in Christ.
There’s no difference in the two demonations.
I live in PA and have been COG for 28 years. We’ve always voted on our Pastors here. We were usually given names and resumes but didn’t really get to hear any of them first. It’s always been understood that the state overseer does have the power to appoint someone. Our current Pastor was from a church swap with California but both churches had to approve it first.
The good news now is that you can get a sample of a pastors preaching off social media. Thus it behooves a pastor to see that only his or her best preaching gets on the web because it could mean a promotion and a salary increase if the web presentation is done right.
