The Church of God (Cleveland, TN) was the only church…
The Church of God (Cleveland, TN) was the only church that I had ever really known. Since 1958, my parents made sure that our family was raised in the CoG. We went to services every time the doors were literally opened; including Sunday evenings and all revivals, even though at the time we lived about 35 miles away. My parents faithfully paid their tithes and offerings, something that was set aside when they received their paychecks. I graduated from Lee College with a BA in Biblical Studies, and upon graduation, I was appointed a State Evangelist for the Church of God in Northern Ohio. I pastored and built a local Church of God that we worked hard to fill up. I served on State Boards, taught in the MIP, as well as taught Lee College Extension classes under the guidance of Ray H. Hughes, Jr. I am not boasting in any way, but since our departure from the local church, it has never even come close to the attendance that we had in that building.
