The God Who Rides a Donkey

Imagine a holiday scene in which the streets are filled with a mass of people tearing down decorations and throwing in them streets. Now imagine, that as the people sing praises to a new king, he enters riding on a donkey. The irony and comedy of the moment are beautiful and breathtaking. This is what is must have looked like on that first Palm Sunday. John gives us an image of a God who is approachable and revolutionary. Indeed, He is the God who rides a donkey.
