NOT WORLDLY WISDOM
“I LOVE YOU, LORD, my strength.” (Psalms 18:1) [The first words of the psalm, I love you Lord! my strength, are introduced as the subject and substances of our whole purpose. Our Love for God is the first and great commandment of the law, because it is the priority for all our praise and obedience; and because of all the mercies God pours out on us, our hearts should be full of love to him. He requires this devotion from us and lovingly accepts it; we are very ungrateful if we resent loving him in return. Our Abba Father’s interest in our loving him is his delight!] “The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; MY GOD IS MY ROCK, IN WHOM I TAKE REFUGE, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.” (Psalms 18:2) [My Abba Father is my God; and then he is my rock, my fortress, all that I need and all I desire in my time of grief. For God is well suited to handle all the necessities and occurrences of our lives, who trust in him. “He is my rock, and strength, and fortress;” 1. “I HAVE FOUND THIS TRUE in the greatest dangers and difficulties.” 2. “I HAVE CHOSEN HIM TO BE SO, and wholly depending upon him alone to protect me.” Those that truly love God may triumph in him as theirs, and may with all assurance and confidence call upon him!] “The LORD has dealt with me according to my righteousness; according to the cleanness of my hands he has rewarded me. FOR I HAVE KEPT THE WAYS OF THE LORD; I am not guilty of turning from my God.” Psalms 18:20-21) [David reflects with comfort on his own integrity, and rejoices in the testimony of his uprightness because he had his conversation with God, in godly sincerity and not with fleshly wisdom, knowing that God would help him! Let this become our testimony, declaring “I have kept the way of the Lord!”] “Now this is our boast: Our conscience testifies that we have conducted ourselves in the world, and especially in our relations with you, with integrity and godly sincerity. WE HAVE DONE SO, RELYING NOT ON WORLDLY WISDOM BUT ON GOD’S GRACE.” (2 Corinthians 1:12) [Paul says this not in a way of boasting or bragging, but as a good reason for expressing a desiring for the help of prayer, as well as for the more confidence in trusting God! Our prayers for one another will help us with our confidence in trusting our Abba Father!] “Now may the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, EQUIP YOU WITH EVERYTHING GOOD FOR DOING HIS WILL, AND MAY HE WORK IN US WHAT IS PLEASING TO HIM, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.” (Hebrews 13:20-21)
Be blessed as you praise The Lord, knowing that WE CAN RELY NOT ON WORLDLY WISDOM BUT ON GOD’S GRACE!
