Ada Pagan

Ada G. Pagán went to be with her Lord Jesus Christ on July 9, 2004. Ada was born on the beautiful island of Puerto Rico in the city of Ponce. She was saved at 15 at a Church of God. After graduating from high school, she planned to attend nursing school, but the Lord redirected her path, calling her into ministry. At 18, she enrolled at the Church of God Bible School, Interamerican Bible Institute, precursor of the prestigious Theological University of the Caribbean.

On December 18, 1965, seven months after receiving her Diploma in Missions and Ministry, she was given her marriage certificate when she joined in marriage and ministry to Víctor Pagán, who was already pastoring a church. That was the beginning of a ministry that lasted for 59 years. Even during the last stage of her life, she would lay hands on and pray for fellow residents at a memory care home.

Ada was a multi-talented human being, packed in the small frame of a 4’11’’ beautiful body. When in pastoral ministry, Víctor never needed an assistant pastor; she was an exceptional teacher and preacher. And, if needed, she had the spiritual authority and character to bring back a member gone astray.
She was a dressmaker. For years, she made her own clothes. Ada also had great pleasure in gardening. If you visit her house, you will become a witness to her skills. However, the area where she exceeded the most was as a writer. An accomplished author, she published two books on Christian poetry. In pastoral ministry, she was in charge of all the special programs. She would write up the script plays, select the actors, prepare the stage, and direct the programs.

Ada was a model as a minister’s wife, a tender and loving mother, a faithful friend, an excellent church member, a brilliant student, a gracious mother-in-law, and an amazing sister-in-law.

To her family and close friends, Ada was better known as Negui. To many others, she was known as Mamá. Although Ada will be missed by her family and friends it is still a time to celebrate her life and home going. It has been requested that family and friends celebrate by wearing colorful and joyful clothing signifying her triumphant journey.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Víctor, her three children (Danny, Milly, Javy), eight grandchildren (Josué, Yasmeen, Xavier, Alek, Yalexa, Ariana, Abdiel, Daniel), three great-grandchildren (Jacob, Naomi, Haven), and nine siblings.
