Bishop R. Lamar Vest Congratulates Dixon Pentecostal Research Center
Former Church of God General Overseer R. Lamar Vest congratulates the Dixon Pentecostal Research Center on their 50th Anniversary of ministry to the Church of God and Pentecostal/Charismatic Movements. Bishop Vest recalls the 1980 General Assembly when ordained bishops approved the construction of a resource center to house both the William G. Squires Library and the Dixon Pentecostal Research Center. General Overseer Ray H. Hughes wrote about that move of the Holy Spirit: “During one of the business meetings, when the program of the Pentecostal Resource Center was being presented, the Holy Spirit gripped the congregation in an extraordinary fashion. The people began to come forward and lay their gifts upon the pulpit, amidst the rejoicing and shouts of the congregation. This move of the Holy Spirit resulted in an offering of $200,000 toward the Pentecostal Resource Center. This sovereign act of the Holy Spirit brought healing to the body of Christ and the entire General Assembly was refreshed through an offering.”
