COVID-19 has raised the issue of the problem of evil. The responses that I have seen from Christians has been heart breaking to me. One of the issues that I see is that many Christians are unable to identify the form of the problem that is being proposed.
That is to say there is the deductive and inductive form of the problem. Each of these forms require different responses. I encourage all believers to be ready to offer a theodicy that answers the questions being asked.

Read C S Lewis’s the problem of pain. As broken humans it is one of the many ways God gets our attention. He wants us to realize we are not wbat we need to be ane awakens dissatisfaction

That is why you should read the book. My finger is not going to reproduce it. It is a big question. In short God speaks to us through all aflictios to number out says (as too short) and apply ourselves unto the widom of God to savation for we may not have time. Death can come any time.

This pandemic has a number of issues at the very outset that complicates the problem of evil.
Did it occur naturally; was/is it a mutation; was it man made and escaped or released????
Mankind has been changing/messing with nature ever since God threw us out of the Garden of Eden. And while only God can create, He has allowed men (usually with the aid/leading of satan) to alter the natural course of events.
This corruption even applies to evil itself. Why God created evil is a deep subject in itself; only more complicated since satan uses it as a tool/weapon. L&P -
