Devotional Reflections…

Good morning!

I’ve had a good devotional time this morning.  A few things really stood out…

  1. I was impressed with the thought from T.J. Addington’s book “Live Like You Mean It” that each day is an “installment of grace.”  You never know which day is the last installment.  I mention this, not to be morbid or sad, but to remind you to number your days and treasure them.  Let’s especially make today count.
  2. I’m studying the Gospel of John right now and I was especially impressed with John 1:5 - “That light shines in the darkness, yet the darkness did not overcome it.”   John gives his version of the creation account in John 1:1-5 and up until verse five he uses the past tense (what happened back when); but in verse 5 he changes to the present tense.  In other words, “The Light still shines!”  There’s no better reminder during this Christmas season – with it’s short days and long nights that no matter how dark your path may seem, the Light still shines.

Last night I stepped out on the back porch for just a few moments before going to bed.  I looked up at the night sky and saw stars that have been shining down on mankind for centuries upon centuries.  They are beautiful – in a lonely sort of way.  But this morning I sense the presence of another light – the light of Jesus’ loving presence – that light is sooooooo much better.  I pray that His light will shine upon your path today.

Blessings,

dlkemp
