The offering of a life lived like Christ in obedience to Him

  2. Gus Rodriguez says:

Your heart’s disposition determines if you are actually offering or just making sure you put something on the plate so you don’t feel guilty afterwards. Tuitea and offerings support the ministry, church building an other necessary things.

  7. Matt Bednar says:

Tithing is not a new testament command to saints and therefore not required. It was Jewish under the first testament…a tax on the people to support the temple system and priests. The mosaic system was removed by God in AD 70. The burden of Christ is light and his yoke is easy. Give as you are blessed and able, and with a thankful heart. That’s the teaching of the Apostles in a nut shell. Simple I know. Probably too simple for some to accept but that’s ok. I’ve climbed this hill and posted my flag, and I’ll die on it…metaphorically speaking.

We are to give our all to Christ, not just 10%.

    obedience to God>offerings

  11. Ernest Young says:

Tithing is a how we show our obedience to him. There are actually 3 types of tithing not just the initial 10%. Two of the other forms of tithe ended once Christ died and rose again. However the premise that the tithe supports the abandoned, widow and orphaned still remains and is seen as true Religion in the New Testament (James). So we are to give God our all including our bodies.

  12. Madison Willoughby says:

The NT clearly teaches today’s Christians to tithe. In Hebrews 7:6 & 8 we learn that Melchizedek, who was NOT related to any Levi, collected a tithe from Abraham and placed a blessing upon Abe because of it. These verses also state that Melchizedek is greater than the human priests because He lives on. Many scholars think that Melchizedek is an OT appearance of Jesus which is called a theophany. If Jesus received a tithe from Abraham then Jesus expects tithes from Believers today. This scripture is proof that NT tithing is in place and was NOT limited to the OT priests.
