Guys this isn’t a theological question, but still your answers will help,
God said respect your parents in his commandments (see also Lev. 19:3)
I’d like to ask if disagreeing with your parents is also a sin, I still care for them and don’t want them to be sad, but I want to live my own life, we’re totally different in everything, my career, my relationship and they don’t even accept Jesus, what should I do, I pray for my parents now and then, but inside I’ve this feeling of guilt and fear that I’ve done something wrong.
Please share your perspective.
Thanks

When I moved out of my parents house, our relationship got better. God’s command was for us to honor them, that doesn’t always mean agreeing, but while under their roof, respecting their decisions.

  2. Roger Adams says:

You may be the only Jesus they see, respect and love them

  3. Michael Moos says:

You can respect and disagree with someone. No problem there. God is after your heart. Make sure it is in the right place. Pursue His glory with every thought, word and action. Talk with Him about it. Pray without ceasing. He is Sovereign. Blessing to you.

My Parents Don’t Agree with my walk with Christ… What I learned is that the early years are very difficult… Relationships get so strained you can almost believe you are the evil one…things became better as I lived away from them, which was done diplomatic not out of strife…hold on be accommodating but firm…beware of emotional blackmails… All will improve in time… You are first fruit for Christ this comes with great spiritual warfare… Fast , pray, model Christ… God keep you!!!

Brother you’ve done nothing wrong, you are a man and responsible for your own decisions, at the end of the day you are answerable to God. Not your parents. However we are commanded to still love and respect them. My father is a Hebrew Israelite and preaches all kinds of hate and told me that if I want a relationship with him I must obey that doctrine. But our saviour clearly tells us that He brings a sword that will divide. Love respect and honor them. But continue to surrendered and obey God.

Thank you everyone for your precious perspectives, I’m grateful to hear from y’all. I’ve had this sense of guilt and conflict in my mind for a long time. It was as if Satan was playing with my mind, I kept having thoughts that I’ve let Jesus down and I’m a terrible child both to my earthly parents and to the heavenly father. I felt that Jesus won’t be Happy at all and I don’t deserve his love, but I feel that Jesus looks after the sincerity in my heart and I’ll try to reflect Jesus in my lifestyle as much as I can. I know it’s the beginning of my life in Jesus and there’s a lot to learn, but I’m willing to do what glorifies Jesus and the Father. I don’t want to let my savior down, it’s my dream that in future I spread the word of Christ to as many people as I can. Thanks once again everyone for comforting me.

  7. Mimi Von Trapp says:

My mum says things like “I don’t suppose you want to hear about my fortune teller reading now you are a Christian?” I have to say “no, I don’t”. I still value my mum, respect her for who she is but her truth in life is not mine. Therefore, I will always put Jesus first! (By the way, she has never approved of any decision I have made on anything not just my faith choice).
