How do you reply to people who lose faith in Jesus over whether He is black or white?

why did he first follow or believe in Christ Jesus?
was it the Gospel or the color of his skin? -
They probably miss the whole point of the Bible in the first place. Jesus could honestly looked like Mr. T and he would still mean the same to me. We follow for the Truth in His Words not his skin color

In some countries like South African where we used (abused) the Christian faith to endorse apartheid, the question is very relevant to some culturally (I know, I live in SA and ministered to many people across the South African color spectrum). The issue, we confuse faith with culture. One would need to look at a paradigm shift when dealing with people like this.

Race should never be the focus of God, it’s about truth. If a person does focus on it, they need to have a serious look at themselves and repent.

Follow Christ. Do not follow Christians. All Christians are imperfect.

I would question why only a white Jesus can save them. And if they believe heaven will only have white people. These people need to open up their worldview with challenging questions on race and faith. And I think it is necessary to challenge their belief system as youare doing. Bravo.

Those who lose their faith over melanin–the source of pigment in human skin that all human beings possess–must have had very little faith to begin with. Of course, some human beings have more melanin than do others. But that is also the case in so many other things. But to one who has lost his faith over this, I suppose I would ask, “What specific amount of melanin did you expect Jesus Christ to have? Moreover, do you also have certain requirements for his height and weight and hair color? Christ was God made flesh, as Scripture tells us. What other specific physical characteristics would nullify that for you?”

Yes and what does Jesus’ skin colour have to do with this? He was a Hebrew.

Let’s talk about Jesus for Who He really was (and is), a Semitic Jew. Two thousand years ago that would imply a man with black hair, dark brown eyes, medium dark or olive colored skin, and a plain, unassuming appearance (according to Isaiah).

He was Jewish. His birth lineage is set down in the Scriptures.

What Colour of Christ isn’t what’s important. So if you want to have a Black Jesus. Sure… As long as you’re not claiming that you need to be Black/ or white to know him, or he needs to be of any colour to find him. Historically, He was Jewish. So I’m fine with that.

What ever happened to judging a man by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin?? On that foundation alone , I would follow Christ no matter what his ethnic background was. He is my Lord and I love him for what he did for me.

God created all races and He loves them all. The fact that Christ was Caucasian should not cause any jealousy because God knows best and to be African American is not shameful because they did not come from a curse through Ham. That teaches blacks to think they are cursed. Also it was Noah that cursed Ham not God.

but he was a Jew from Nazareth, so likely whatever pigmentation is common for Jews of that area and time.

Jesus was middle eastern. His great, great great…grandmother was Moabite. So he was dark skinned, at least.
What would I tell them?
“Get over it.”

God looks down on us and sees only three persons, Jews, gentiles, and His church who is made up of both Jews and gentiles we are a new creation so you are either a Jew or a gentile or His church which is His body His bride the body of Christ.

If that’s all it takes to lose your faith, I would question the veracity of such “faith”.

If they lost their faith because of that then they were never real Christians to begin with.

What is the different of black and white people when we talk about faith.. N who cares about their color.importance the heart of the person.. . Romans 2:11. For there is no partiality with God…

They never had faith in Jesus to begin with. There’s still black Christians who rather be black than be followers of Christ and they don’t even realize it. I see it more in my own community than any other. Ignorance is bliss, so we have to remind them of what Jesus DID for us even if it turns out He was Korean mixed with Puerto Rican. He bled red Blood, He died a real death so we could live. 3 days later He rose in all of His glory and ascended into Heaven to sit at the right hand of the Father. Remind them He is coming back very soon for His family regardless of skin color.

The only color that matters is the red that was shed on the cross at Calvary. If a person does not understand that simple truth, they were never born again of the spirit. Plain and simple.

Remember God made the human race .Jesus is the Saviour what does the color of his skin have to do with His sacrifice on the cross?Blood is red and every human being has red blood.

What an incredibly awful reason to give up one’s faith for. That has nothing to do with faith or God or Christianity in any way. Especially since he is now in His Heavenly body. When he was on Earth, I am sure He looked like whatever Jewish Galileans looked like 2000 years ago. As it should be. He didn’t stand out from other Galileans. That is in the Bible, and the reason Jesus had to be pointed out in the Garden.
