How do we, as Christians, successfully evangelize to false converts?
How do we, as Christians, successfully evangelize to false converts?
By being faithful in preaching the word. Praying for them. And leaving the results up to our sovereign God.
Loving them
Actually by loving God really because it manifests
We seek to understand their perspective so we know where to begin and proclaiming the Gospel.Today it’s like Paul on Mars Hill for the most part, preach the Creator. Creation Evangelism.
We may be plowing the soil, planting, watering or reaping the harvest but “successful” evangelizing is God’s sovereign work.
Teach them the gospel. It will be on them to accept or reject
How do we discern in the first place? Let’s be honest.
A good question, yes, but, let’s say that we did — and even if we were wrong, this exercise might be a good idea — it is a good idea to, as Ed L. said, teach them the gospel. The problem is, we often tend to rely on short-cut aspects of the gospel, such as four spiritual laws, or five of this or nine of that. I kind of like the approach that some groups use, that of going from Creation to Resurrection. I like the approach, for example, that Good Seed International uses in its booklets. By the way, I notice there are some free downloads over there of some of the booklets — not only in English.. I like “The Lamb,” supposedly for kids, but pretty good for all, and some others that they have prepared along the same lines with specific groups in mind. Apparently, that type of approach has been very helpful with non-literate people groups, as well, and, after coming to faith, people have understood more readily the Biblical teachings on living the Christian life.
This is my burden. I start by asking the general questions like:
1. Where do you fellowship?
2. How long are you a Christian?
And then the important question.
What is the gospel?
If they can’t answer this question, you start to share the gospel message and what it’s not and at the end ask them that if JESUS stood in front of you right now, what would you say. If they say that they were would say that they are sorry. I invite them to do exactly that since JESUS is omnipresent
Our lives need to be living testaments to His message.
I always begin with a prayer, then I begin with asking them to share with me their testimony, and springboard from there.
Revive the Inquisition…oh wait…maybe look into your own heart an quit trying to find error in your brothers’…
build a relationship with them, and DON’T make arguments. Let us not become discouraged when they seem to stray away, or lose their fruit. Forgive them also, just as Christ has forgiven us. There is no checklist for salvation!!!!!
“Therefore, laying aside all malice, all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and all evil speaking, as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby, if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is gracious.”
I Peter 2:1-3 NKJV
Ask questions. Share Scripture. Teach hope in Jesus’s resurrection.
It’s a very difficult thing to do. In reality false converts, just as those who are not believers can only come to a true knowledge of God through His divine revelation.
What our role is is to point them to Jesus through His word. It’s not our job to convert people, that all belongs to God.
For false converts specifically what we need to do is to address their false beliefs and point them to the true Gospel.
Preach the Gospel…but it’s tough sledding.
False converts? How does one arrive at this determination?
By knowing them we enough to know what they are really thinking and shyly abmnd caring enough about them personally after the truth of Scripture.
I married my husband in our church. I thought I was entering into a truly Christian marriage. Turns out my husband is a narcissist. I was his target-he sucked me dry of my finances, confidence, personality and so much more. I now know narcissists change their lifestyle, clothes, faith or belief system to get what they need. I thought the Holy Spirit would work in him just like He was (and is) working in me. But I have realised that my prayers and patience, love and forgiveness over the past 10 years, do not have any impact if the person won’t let the Holy Spirit in. We each have to ask God to come in and be prepared to work alongside him. The Lord will tell you if it’s time to pray for the person and leave it to God. Matthew 7:6 days Don’t cast your pearls before swine. In other words Jesus is warning his followers not to offer biblical doctrine to those who are unable to value or appreciate it.
Is the false convert in your local church?
Let most of your witnessing be in the form of a question rather than trying to point out directly to them to right position.
Preach the gospel and if they are part of God’s elect they will hear his voice and follow
Take them back to the cross. A starting place . If not these mouths must be stopped for they subvert whole houses
Only the Holy Spirit can do that
By pointing light (the word of God 2 Tim 3:16) on the darkness, and let the spirit of truth speaks
First define what you call a false convert
