Trusting in the coming redeemer, through the sacrifices.

  4. Ceasar Fonzarelli says:

If the question is “how were they saved before Christ” the answer in Romans 4. People were saved and justified under the old covenant the same way that people are saved and justified under the new covenant. Paul uses Abraham as the example to show that justification by faith is not a new idea. The only difference is that they looked forward to the cross. We look back on it.

  5. Exzuannette Alicea says:

Faith and baptized.. most importantly faith.. only way Holy Spirit speaks to you is because of faith..

  6. Steven Chakarovski says:

Born again is a new covenant thing. Receiving a perminant Holy Spirit is also a new covenant aspect. To be saved in the OT you must trust Yahweh by following the law with faith like Abraham.

  7. Nathaniel Taylor says:

I think Jesus was laying down a new understanding. Those who came before Jesus was incarnate in the flesh of a man, of all types could respond to God’s general revelation (see Rom 1) and have the righteousness of Jesus applied to them. Examples, Melchizedek, Abraham, Job.

  8. Gord TheRed says:

They looked forward to Christ while we look backwards. Hebrews 11:24-28.

  9. Michael Wesolek Sr. says:

By God’s grace and a life of faith. They went to Abraham’s bosom until Jesus descended to set the captives free

  10. Paul Sanele says:

They didn’t label themselves Christians , by their character was same like teachings of Jesus by keeping law of Moses

  11. Yosef Shum says:

    Became Jewish

  12. Nun Guite says:

    Still by faith Heb 11

They died with the hopes of the messiah.

  14. Ian Hartley says:

Job, they had a foreknowledge of Salvation and at death went to a place called Abraham’s bosom. https://www.kingjamesbibleonline.org/Job-19-25/

  15. Abraham Mathew says:

Revelation 13:8 ….Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.. As humans We look behind for what Messiah has done, Patriarch’s look forwarded for what Messiah is going to do. BUT for LORD the sacrifice was already done. Because HE is outside time… we all know that the Forgiveness is only through CHRIST. Psalm 32 1. even old men of faith knew about the coming redemption and they where considered righteous by the grace and mercy of LORD.

  16. Ramon S. Quilala Jr. says:

Why do ypu want to know?

They had faith in the future messiah! Their faith was granted to them as righteousness.

  18. Aaliyah Matthews says:

By Faith and they had to sacrifice animals when they sinned because Jesus hadn’t sacrificed himself yet.

  19. Harvey Darell Barete Dalman says:

The question was misunderstood by Many – The Op was trying to ask is how are you guys been “Born Again(Spirit” before Christ liveth in you.

To Answer to this questions lies on the Gospel of the Beloved John

John 3:8 King James Version (KJV)
8 The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.

No one knows, it is not Baptism, It is not Hearing the Gospel Preach and last but not the Least being a Member of the Church.

  20. Terry Thompson says:

Read the story of the rich man and Lazarus the beggar. Luke 16:19-31 It speaks of “Abraham’s bosom”. Almost like a holding place, but one of comfort. Jesus emptied it out after his work on the cross was complete. It seems while people were still separated from the Father, they were not in torment, like the rich man ended up being. Because a name was used (Lazarus) you can conclude that this is NOT a parable, but an event.

  21. Seth Iris says:

The term “Born Again” was first mentioned in the book of John.
I dont understand the question. Maybe you mean other things but formed this question.

  22. Miebaka Obed says:

Nobody before the Messiah came was born again because it was not possible. Born again started after the Ascension of the Messiah to heaven and the Holy Spirit came on Earth on the believers.

  23. Kingsley Onukwube says:

The dispensational will say the no one was born again before the coming of Jesus.

But the scripture in Hebrews 11 clearly showed that they were saved by grace through faith in the coming Messiah. They had eternal life Psa 133:3, the had the gospel preached to them Gal 3:8, the were born after the spirit Gal 4:29, they enjoyed the imputed righteousness Rom 4:6, they enjoyed justification and forgiveness of sin Rom 4:1-8, they had the gift of the holy spirit within them Isa 63:11, 26:9

The old testament saints enjoyed every singular benefit we enjoyed today, the only difference is that we are enjoying a better covenant than theirs.

  24. Oscar Munoz says:

Through faith. Looking forward to the Messiah. We look back

  25. Nick N Beth says:

Abraham believed God and it was counted to him as righteousness…
    Thus by Faith alone
    Through Grace alone
    Just like it is today!

  26. Amber Thomas says:

They were under mosaic law so they were forgiven for sins through their sin offerings/sacrifices which were with the best animals. The reason we don’t have to do that anymore is because Jesus was the last blood sacrifice. There is more to it than that, but that’s the simple answer ☺️

  27. Sherman C Fletcher says:

By Faith Abraham did as God ask.

  28. Benjamin Hazlett says:

    Belief

  29. Carlos Xavier says:

Same as usual, by hearing, understanding and believing the Gospel about the Kingdom, I.e., faith: Gal 3:8

  30. Kent Morris says:

    Isaiah 53

  31. Brenton Goin says:

The same way as after Christ…. By the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

  32. Rudy Jenkins says:

Faith in the Messiah to come, like we have faith in the Messiah who came

  33. Rick Kirby says:

God’s grace is sufficient, faith OF God

  34. Emma Hamilton says:

They were not born again. The new birth was not available until Jesus paid the price for us to be born again. Before Christ, people were counted righteous by their obedience. But I believe that when Jesus descended to the lowest parts of the earth and lead captivity captive, He lead the righteous dead who were there out. (Ephesians 4:8-10; I Samuel 28:8-15;)

  35. Jeremy Bickel says:

    By faith

  36. Kristen Park says:

They lived outside of their current time frame. We can still do that. ♥️♥️♥️

  37. Bob Jones says:

The same way as after Christ, Scripture tells us that Abraham believed and it was counted unto him for righteousness, so you see it was by faith

  38. Corey Matthew says:

Faith in God’s promises and Revelation to that specific point in time they were living.

For instance Noah believed in God’s promises of a flood.

Abraham believed in God’s promises of of a promise land and numerous decedents through his seed

  39. Brad Ryckman says:

    Yes

it wasn’t a new concept. (There is nothing new under the sun).

How is it not a new concept ? Nichodimus asked Yeshua how must I be born again? and what did he say?

Aren’t you a teacher of Israel? shouldn’t you already know these things?

King David said “your law is perfect in converting the soul”.
That’s equivalent to being born again.

Also, the priests in the temple had to shave them self’s and change there garments…this is symbolic of being born again as well.

  40. Jesse Hornback says:

People before Christ were saved the same way people after Christ: by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone.

  41. Kim Churchman says:

    See Hebrews 11

  42. Steven Wells says:

    By faith.

  43. Tim Rydstrom says:

No, born again in old testament.

  44. Tim Rydstrom says:

If there was born again in the old testament then we would have not have a new testament

  45. Danpalma D'Almeida says:

Have you read about the Sanctuary

  46. William Clark says:

It was through faith in the writings (if they were available) and the oral teachings of Moses AND in faith that the Christ would come soon. Remember that sin was still washed away through the blood of the lamb at the temple which was done every year for the Passover. Though Jesus had not come yet, faith IN that shedding of the blood through an absolutely pure lamb (designated as such by the temple priests if I’m not mistaken) WAS the way to redemption through the remission of sins. Christ coming and dying actually made it no longer necessary to have lambs crucified in the temple(s). Thus, the renting of the curtain in the temple when Jesus gave us His ghost. Hope that makes sense.

  47. Alan G Hales says:

No one was born again before Jesus rose from the dead. When Jesus was in the underworld, one of the things that He did, was to go into Abraham’s boson to preach the gospel to the Old Testament righteous.
