I would suggest that this man needs to read his bible more carefully. Spurgeon and Calvin didn’t make up predestination, they learned it from the apostle Paul. The reason people rejected jesus was because they didn’t like his gospel.

The man is spot on. Think about Adam wss given everything and god gave 1 command this is where choice/free will was initiated if no free will it renders love meaningless. That’s why God’s desire is for us to love him because he loves us it all about relationship

Please take some time to study on this site. There are tons of resources that will help you there. (1) – the argument that says you need free will to love is nonsense – does God have freedom to “sin” – I think we all know that God cannot sin – just like he cannot “lie” etc – and the same goes for Jesus and the Holy Spirit – yet does that mean they “cannot love each-other”..? Such arguments “sound good” but that does not make them correct. (2) No respectable calvinist says humans don’t have free will – it is just the “extent” of the free will that is under debate – not the fact whether we do or not. (3) In the final analysis this centers on anthropology – what is the “state of unregenerate man”? The Bible clearly states that man is “dead in his sins” as an unbeliever – he is “in the flesh & cannot please God” –> he is unable to do so. (Ephesians 1, 2 and Romans 8) –> He needs to be born- again first. It matters not whether this is “philsophically unpleasant” to liberterian free will – it matters in the final analysis what God says in the Bible! https://www.monergism.com/

What I would say is it depends how you deal with God’s divine providence. They are generally Reformed/Calvinism, Molinism, Arminianism, and Open Theism. I find myself in the Molinist camp. So my idea is God designed the Universe in mind with every decision a free will creature could do, would do and will do

I am sorry, however all you free will people out there, I have read all your verses that you present and all of them have a counter in context with scripture. And yes, we have a will of our own. I know, but in dead in our sin, would we choose God? Would a fallen human choose a Holy God? Look at Jonah, he had free will. When God told him to “go to Nineveh the great city” Jonah had the free will to say, no. God had other plans. Jonah went anyway. He still grumbled at the end.
Now this preacher talks about predestination beginning with Calvin. He is wrong. Predestination began with Jesus. See Jesus’ words in John 6:44,46, 65. Paul wrote a lot about it, read Ephesians 1 – 2:10. Calvin just wrote more about it.

Nonsense. This man has absolutely no understanding of reformed theology. He presents the same strawman arguments that most anti calvinist do. If you want to know what calvinism or reformed theology teaches listen to or read a calvinist. It does no good to listen to someone who already has decided in there mind that they reject it even if what they reject is not what’s actually being taught. It also amazes me when someone says, we don’t believe in the gospel of Spurgeon or Calvin but in the gospel of Jesus Christ, they taught the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It also amazes me when someone say they don’t follow a man made system of interpretation they just read the Bible without realizing that in itself is a man made system of interpretation it’s just their own.

Team Free Will

I say he’s right. Paul preached “predestination” but not as extreme as calvinism teaches it. We’re not sorted before we are born. We have free will and the choice to believe Jesus or not is ours. The only predestination is that our omniscient Father knows who will completely reject him and who will enter relationship with him. But knowing doesn’t necessarily mean he causes it. We are responsible for our own eternal destiny

He doesn’t understand the full picture of God, he is humanising God which many people do. I’ve heard many Arminian preachers teach this way. It’s limited and not systematic.

John 6:44 God initiates contact. People either respond to it or not. Does God draw near to everyone? Only God knows. Yet another controversial topic. Fruitless topic. Trust God, love God with all that is in us and love each other as He would have us love. Done.

It comes from not comprehending what the foundations are in the first 3 chapters of Genesis.
Mankind is Soul (seed of God) energy of life and opportunity for existence.
Eve was taken from out of Adam spirit of mankind, commonly known as the heart of mankind, their awareness, consciousness, decision making process, freedom of choice, freedom of expression, free will.Serpent means uprising rejection and rebellion against God, against the Image and Likeness of God, against oneself in that image and likeness to become something else one was never created in or to be, a puny little god in the very presence of God.
The original sin of Adam and Eve was to appeal to motivational and emotional “self determination” invoking Humanism, darkness seeing their nakedness (Spiritual disconnection from God) and their shame (mortality) mankind’s second chance form, that no longer could be in the presence of God.
God separated mankind from Himself and sent Adam and Eve to where darkness can mix with darkness and be itself, in itself darkness.
Mankind can now choose to remain in that darkness and continue to be their own puny little god separated from God.
Or
Be the prodigal son or daughter and come to the end of themselves and get over themselves and return to the Father receiving the Robe of righteousness to cover their nakedness and shame, receiving the ring to attend the wedding and enter into the wedding feast.
Or
Give oneself over to the darkness and become the adversary to the will and purpose of God and become a liar, murderer and a thief of souls, in war against God and all things of God.Our free will is to surrender to the will and purpose of God, though one can still appeal to self in the very presence of God.
If one can’t surrender 100% to God in the here and now, and trust God, to follow Christ, they never will do it in the kingdom of God either.
