What if I told you Revelation wasn’t written as an end of the world prophecy but an esoteric message to early Christians facing Roman persecution?
I have received several inquiries asking if I thought the Apocalypse was upon us. The short answer is ‘no’. Apocalypse has come to mean the ‘end times’ – a catastrophic and climatic end of the world.

Nice try Justin but we know Revelation was written in 96 AD. We know this is true because of Revelation 2:13. History tells us Antipas was martyred at Pergamum in 92 AD.

I’d say Revelation 11 contradicts that. He’s referencing the complete grand finale in verse 18.
A lot of scenarios in Revelation were not even able to be understood until recently.
God is a MACRO manager, He’s addressing our time as a whole and whole world events…

Interesting proposition! At the moment, I do not believe so. But I know that there are a lot of such proposition in relation to the context of biblical texts. Well, I actually DO agree with this article, as it lines up with what I had learned elsewhere. But, even if I had not agreed, I would not have been rude or insulting! Reading through these comments is disheartening. Calling someone a false teacher, mocking someone’s viewpoint, posting the laughing emoji, or saying “nonsense” is hardly a good rebuttal. Here’s some evidence for the early dating of the book of revelation which might bring some clarity to the book. The Seven Churches in Asia
that John wrote Revelation to a specific group of churches in Asia (Revelation 1:4). The importance of this statement cannot be overlooked (even though it has been by many scholars). There is only one small window of time in which there were only seven churches in Asia. The early AD 60’s. The apostle Paul established nine churches in that area, but only seven were addressed in Revelation. The reason for this is that the cities of Colosse, Hierapolis, and Laodicea, were all destroyed by an earthquake around AD 61. Laodicea was rebuilt soon afterwards, but the other two cities were not. This left only seven churches in Asia during the five years just prior to the beginning of the Roman/Jewish war.
Of particular importance is the message to the church of Philadelphia (Revelation 3:7-13). In verse’s 10 and 11, Christ told John to inform them that an “hour of temptation” was “about to come upon all the world,” i.e., the Roman Empire. Christ then told them that He was coming quickly and that they should hold fast. The reason this is important (besides the fact that this was directed to an actual church in the first century) is that the first persecution of Christians took place under Nero Caesar in AD 64. Therefore, Revelation must have been written before that time.
