I posted this question on another ” Christian” site and was absolutely horrified at some of the responses. Here’s the question….. why do you deserve to go to Heaven?

I can’t imagine anyone thinking that they deserve heaven no matter how much good they have done. Heaven is a place christ has prepared for his people. You go there because you belong to him.

The word “deserve” implies that the one who deserves something must have done something to deserve the reward. But, without Christ, no one deserves to go to heaven. So, there is absolutely nothing we can do to “deserve ” to go to heaven.
The Bible says ALL have come short of the glory of God. And it says that we are ALL born into sin. And the wages of sin is death, that is in short, to go to hell.
In the Old Testament there was in place the sacrificial system to atone for sins. But that was only a temporary atonement. Jesus came to earth to die as a sacrifice in our place so we would not have to go to hell. Jesus rose three days later proving His divinity and power over death. The Bible says that ALL who believe in Jesus shall go to heaven. All we need to is repent of our sins, ask Him to forgive us of our sins, and if one truly means it in their heart, his/her sins are forgiven and they can go to heaven that very moment, if they happened to die at that time.
It’s not about deserving to go to heaven, it’s about being reconciled with our creator to live out God’s plan for our lives; that is to be in a close personal relationship with God through Jesus.

We deserve an opportunity to meet God and learn of Christ Jesus! God gives us free-will and I am a firm believer that Christ is the only way. No if, ands, or buts. The Christian lifestyle is a choice and many do not take it seriously. Maybe until something serious happens and or God undeniably convicts us to the point we see ourselves. Getting to Heaven is not just a requirement if “I’m a good person” but a relationship that grows with Jesus. The knowledge of Him alone is eternal life. (Joh 17:3)
Here is a scary fact: A disciple, chosen by God, became his betrayer and son of perdition, Judas, after 3 years of following Christ and seeing everything. A thief on the cross, living a prodigal life until his crucifixion, dying, and under the same penalty of crime, declared his righteousness and entering into life everlasting forever. Something within :15 minutes. Such an irony. But God is serious! Stay faithful be in love with Jesus and never give up. Live in Heaven with Christ here first and then graduate on to eternity after we pass. -

I will be very careful in answering to this question because it might send a wrong impression.
First, if the inquiry was meant about my present standing before God. Then, I will say yes. The blood of the Lord Jesus Christ covers me the day I accepted Him to be my Lord and Saviour. My going to Heaven is not based on me, nor my righteous deeds, or anything I’ve done but based solely on what the Lord Jesus Christ done on my behalf. Have I failed Him since the day I got saved? Yes, thankfully my relationship with Him is not based on my ‘doing’. Our fellowship will always not be smooth because I fail Him most of the time. Thankfully, He’s the one holding and keeping my soul.
That’s the beauty when we learn to understand what does it mean to have a personal relationship with God. “I go to prepare a place for you, and if I go, I will come again and receive you unto my self, that where I am there you may be also “. So, why I deserved Heaven? Because Jesus said so when I put my trust in Him. So many supporting verses that can verify my claim, but that would be for another post..
Secondly, if it is about before I got saved? Not a chance. Nobody deserves Heaven, unless you go through the right way. Jesus Christ, He is the Way, the Truth and the life. No man can come to the Father except through Jesus Christ. Peace, and God bless..

Now, why do I deserve to gain immortality at the coming of Christ? It’s a legal payment that Christ made on my behalf by dying in my place to satisfy the law. Then He Rose again and can now resurrect me. -
