If election/salvation is predestined, why did He give some to be apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers? Wouldn’t that define “the foolishness of preaching”?

That is why the Holy Spirit equipped all for the work of the ministry.

I used to think there was no such thing as a dumb question … I stand corrected

The unifying element and action between all professing believers in Jesus the Christ is this: to preach/teach/espouse/spread the Holy Gospel (Good News) of how to be saved before the One True Living God, Who sits upon the Throne over all His creation. What God chooses to Give to His own is what He sees is needed, let us pray that He Gives more for His Harvest, Amen and Amen. Predestined to see/hear/know …. also is God’s to Give …. see and study carefully the Parable of the Sower, the Seed, and the soils …. and pay heed to what Jesus explained to His disciples/followers …. 3/4 of those called …. what do they do? But, what did Jesus Say regarding His Gospel? He explains here ….. (Mt. 24) ….. 3 And as He sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto Him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of Thy coming, and of the End …. of the world?
4 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.
5 For many …. shall come …. in My Name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive …. many.
6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumors of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things …. must come to pass, but …. the End …. is not …. yet.
7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be …. famines, and …. pestilences, and …. earthquakes, …. in diverse places.

8 All these …. are the beginning …. of sorrows.

9 Then …. shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and …. shall kill you: and ye …. shall be hated of all nations …. for My Name’s sake.
10 And then …. shall many …. be offended (stumble/fall away), …. and shall betray …. one another, and shall …. hate one another.
11 And many …. false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive …. many.
12 And because iniquity …. shall abound, the love of many …. shall wax (grow) …. cold.
13 But …. he that shall endure (in the faith) …. unto the end, the same …. shall be saved.

14 And …. this Gospel …. of the Kingdom …. shall be preached …. in all the world …. for a witness …. unto all nations; and then …. shall …. the End …. come.” Therefore, blessed are the feet who spread the Holy Gospel of the Lord and Savior, Jesus the Christ, for …. “whether we live or die …. we ARE the Lord.” Amen and Amen. Blessings ….

God chose foolishness of preaching to call His elects unto repentance and believing. Jesus preached,His apostles and pastors. That is the way God calls His people to change their sinful ways..1Corinyhians 2:18….read yo the end of the chapter. What you call foolishness to God is Wisdom….

Suppose He predestines the elect to be saved by that “foolish” preaching? The thing we have to remember is, God’s bigger than us. His plans aren’t altered by our free choices. I can make you do things I want you to do without even touching your free will, and I’m just a man. He’s smarter, He’s more powerful, if a man can be saved, God knows how to convince them to do it.

Calvinistic predestination is false. Biblical predestination is about the reward. They are not the same.

  7. Darrell Hendricks says:

No….It re-enforces the necessity of preaching. As the preaching of the Gospel is the means God has ordained to reach lost sinners and reconcile them to an All-holy God. ✝?

  8. Max Gooche says:

your question is stated wrongly and it defies itself from the start

IF you agree to HE GAVE in eph 4/11 you agree to He predestined

what you should have been asking IS this – if predestined why we still preach the GOSPEL hoping someone would be saved IF predestined they will save with or without preaching Here’s my reasons why this is not Biblical and plain wrong http://www.pentecostaltheology.com/why-am-i-not-a-calvinist/

  9. Madison Willoughby says:

It would also define the foolishness of evangelism, making disciples.

  10. Chad Turner says:

Because you are misunderstanding election, and predestined.
And the roll of speaking the gospel to people.

  11. Jim Koverman says:

God knows the future. This does not mean He molds our future while manipulating free will

Read Ephesians, then read it again, and again and again and again then let’s talk…..
