I’m not against women but when it comes to preaching the Word of God in the church, is it biblical? Why apostle Paul commanded the Corinthians
Or Timothy ” I don’t allow women to teach” for it is the commandment of God. Please let me know your views or I mean the biblical views on this matter. God bless everyone.

Women should not preach inside the church.it is against God’s rule..
In creation, God created Adam first to rule the other creation of God.God created eve as an helper of Adam.

Christ is the head of man and man is the head of woman.and God is the head of Jesus Christ -
If a women want to preach, GO outside and preach The Gospel to lost soul. We are with them în this area (psalm68. 11).

Paul, not Christ, set up the operation of the church for that culture and time. The church is supposed to have Christ as the head. We are not supposed to have a priest to intercede between us and God. The church is supposed to be the body of Christ where each member is uniquely gifted to serve God. It’s not a hierarchy. It’s a partnership. Women have the same great commission to go and make disciples. Only the bogus churches think that women are not qualified to serve as God designed them to as teachers and evangelists. Read the gifts of the Spirit. And hint: He doesn’t need permission to anoint women with His gifts.

If you read the spiritual gifts, you will see that the HOLY SPIRIT not man is the one who gives gifts of teaching and evangelism. So are we to quench the Holy Spirit by refusing to allow females to use their spiritual gifts as He leads?

I think the social-historical context is important when speaking of women not being able to preach. Simply, women had no say in that setting. It was and in many ways still is a patriarchal society in the middle East

The practical wisdom recorded in the Bible does promote male leadership, especially pastoral. Not in a chavanist way, but as protectors. Much of the teaching was liberating to women, a contrast to the contemporary culture of the Epistles. Restrictions were for practical reason. If men don’t step up. Women will. And they have my support

All Authority is Gods. If a women who is a child of God has a word from God then listen. If it is clearly evident that she is there not by Gods appointing then walk away. It is the same as men.
This does not mean you are under the authority of, or the submission to her.
While you fight and squabble over rules and regulations sitting in your religiosity, those who Christ came to save are not being met with his truth and love. Isaiah 61: 1-4 Luke 4:18

A few things to ponder .. a Jewish women ruled the whole nation… why? The first evangelist was a women.. why? A donkey spoke to a prophet… are women inferior to animals? I believe in male leadership but the while Sperma =word.. male genative leading to son inheritance. But God can and does use women in ministry. Look at how many women pastors in mission field …

Funny story. My daughter attends pioneer girls at a local church that we dont attend for regular services. The lady that runs it played a video of a lady preacher. At the end of the video clip the teacher asked, and what did you ladies learn? My 12 year old daughter raised her hand and said, ” that we shouldnt listen to female preachers.” To which the teachers mouth dropped open and she could not speak. My daughter stands up for what is biblical. ♡♡ but she thought it was funny that the teacher had nothing to say when she said that.

“1 Timothy 2:12. I do not permit a woman to teach or to exercise authority over a man; rather, she is to remain quiet.”
This is not grounds for any woman-bashing whatsoever in TODAY’s world. Know your history or find yourself in the error of repeating that history. It is sad how easy it is for people to be led astray by the twisted meanings of words that were intended to say something quite the opposite. Sad. Very sad.
This verse refers to a letter supposedly written from Paul to Timothy to go to Ephesus where there was a huge problem with pagan fertility worship…HUGE PROBLEM. Women ruled the temples, not bad in itself, but, the problem was the rampant methods of “worship.” Other women were commanded to attend these pagan temples at least once in their lifetime to submit to sexual slavery for a day, required by local law. Men went to the pagan temples to pay money to support the women who were in charge of the pagan temples. Men paid money and “worshiped” by having sex with a random woman, thereby funding the temple of the fertility gods. Picture government-sponsored brothels and legalized prostitution and legalized sexual slavery and police-enforced participation. Timothy was to go into this kind of world and teach the WORD OF GOD to remedy this problem. In doing so, in his time period and in Ephesus, in a place of pagan fertility worshiping (not now, and not in the civilized world of today), Paul advised Timothy to not let any women OF EPHESUS to have any pagan influences in the church. The women ruled the pagan fertility temples; to let women OF EPHESUS to have a voice would be to allow them to hinder Timothy in spreading THE WORD OF GOD. Therefore, only in this place where Timothy was, and only for the reason of the fertility temples at that time when Timothy was there, he was to prohibit women, as the verse states. That does not apply to the world of today. To apply those words to the world of today is to do a grave disservice against THE WORD OF GOD. Know your history or sadly, you will be repeating it.Wives should be subject to their husbands, true. AND, husbands should be subject to their wives; don’t leave that part out. This is between husbands and wives, not men in general and women in general. Husbands and wives are one unit. It isn’t about how every woman should obey any man. Husbands are to love their wives just as Christ loved the church. JUST AS CHRIST LOVED THE CHURCH. Christ was the ultimate servant. As such, this is how husbands should be, a servant as Christ was a servant. Christ gave himself up for the church, the body of believers. Husbands serving wives, wives serving husbands, each subject to each other. That’s what it says in the bible. “Wives, be subject to your husbands as you are to the Lord.” “In the same way, husbands should love their wives.” “BE SUBJECT TO ONE ANOTHER out of reverence for Christ.”

Paul was being context specific. We are all called to teach and preach. By the way while the men were hiding, it was a woman, Mary that found out the risen word, the resurrected living Christ. And she preached it first.
She went to the tomb where the word was buried. She persistently sought to find the word. Where have they taken my Lord she asked. Untill she found the risen living Christ, the eternal word of Life. She ran back and declared He is risen. A woman preached the gospel of resurrection first. She preached the good news. A woman proclaimed the good news.
Let us hear and live what the holy spirit is saying.

If you belieeve that Paul shares a different Gospel, then you cannot assume biblical inerrancy or divine inspiration. If you cannot assume inerrancy or inspiration, then you have to doubt the whole Bible. If you doubt the whole Bible like that, then you are not a believer and cannot know what is true since the Bible is not reliable. If you think like that, then forget about Christianity altogether -
Paul gave that order to the Corinthians only and then to Timothy. It’s because of the character of the women in those cultures. There’s context and content Bro. It was not a doctrine rather he addressed a problem. Aquilla and Priscilla and many other women pastored churches in their homes at the time.
Why didnt Paul give such commands to Titus, or Mark, or Luke or Gaius, or any of his followers…
The cities of Greece bred a different kind of women at the time, who were far richer and educated than men, so the men were less important and disrespected at the time.JESUS our lord showed himself first to a woman and TASKED her to spread the message to the men’s…. (think about that)

For everyone who keeps saying that we need to take Paul’s letter in context, I agree. Take it in context of the BIBLE! Men are ordained by God from the foundation of the world to be the spiritual leaders. Yes there was a woman deaconness but what was her role? Was it to teach and usurp authority over the men? For those saying it was, the burden of proof is on them.

In Paul’s day, a day where men thought very poorly of women, Paul protected women from the jeers and anger of the men by not placing them before hard hearted men with teaching. Paul thought too much of women to subject them to that. Pride filled men with falsely inflated egos make a poor audience for a woman, no matter how much knowledge she had.
Paul wrote that in Jesus there is neither male nor female. There were actually many women in The New Testament who led churches and Paul acknowledged them.

I don’t believe that what we commonly refer to as “church” is from God anyway. It doesn’t look like what was going on in Acts, but it does look like what the Catholic Church invented. All that we call “church” today originated there.
As far as the real Church is concerned, which is simply all of us in Christ, if a woman wishes to spread the good news and pray for people and encourage people and share an elder sister’s wisdom with… anybody, then she has every right to do so.
Most of these problems we have arise from that false concept of Church to begin with. Remove THAT, and the rest of it fits perfectly. -
I strongly oppose putting women in positions of authority in the church.
The very makeup of women verses men screams for men to be in authority.
Women by nature are nurturing which causes them to make decisions based on emotion.
Making decisions based on emotion is what has gotten the church into the position of accepting homosexuals into the church. I’m not against allowing them to come and hear the word of God preached as they desperately need to but to let them think that they can go on sinning and be in the faith is criminal and puts them in danger of hell while thinking they are ok.
This is just one example. There are many more.
Men are better equipped to make the pragmatic and often harsh decisions that need to be made to protect the authenticity and scriptural integrity of the church. -
I am a woman and not against myself, haha! That being said… no it is not biblical for us to teach men. Having been a woman my entire life, this is very wise and we do not need to be in positions of authority over men. The Methodist Church is a prime example of what happens when you do. We want to be nurturing and we want to include people so as not to hurt their feelings. Now… you have lesbians preaching and the teaching that one night stands are holy. No way, man! We are equal but we have different roles and gifts. Teaching men in church or being in positions of authority in the church is not one of them.

God ordained man as his wife’s covering, head of the household, and head of the church. Does this mean women cannot teach the word of God? No. Read Titus 2. God gives women of wisdom (driven by His Spirit) liberty to teach other women. In addition, we ALL are directed to make disciples of all nations.
His word is specific about woman not being the authority over a man. Why? Because God made man the head so that the man could cover his wife. When this sequence becomes out of balance then the household is placed in a position that jeopardizes the household where it is open to certain attacks. Same goes for the church. Man is the head, the authority mandated by God. A household, and church, in proper alignment with God will flourish because everyone is first and foremost in obedience to Him. We all have our proper place. All are of great value. After all, God made Adam First. And God Himself was made manifest in the flesh as a man, not a woman. Women, we aren’t to take offense to this but really we should be thankful God has His reasons for stipulating roles, for our own spiritual and physical protection. -
This is your first post? Ambitious, this debate is a bit contentious as we all may notice. Most conservative denominations still do not ordain women as elders but most have women serving as deaconess. Many mainline more liberal denominations permit women to serve as pastors and they preach and serve communion. Finding support for this in scripture is difficult but if you reject biblical authority it is not a problem

There is not one Biblical example where a female pastor or elder had charge over a local group of believers. This is what Paul said he did not permit. There are those who say that women were the first witnesses to the empty tomb, and we all agree with that. But then they take a leap in logic and say this is a basis for women pastors. This is at best a stretch. There is an equality between the sexes (there are only two by the way), but differentiations in roles. Because we are equal but different by design. We have to consider the Creation order and seek to adhere to it.

Context is everything! Paul said women should be silent. Context. In that period, men sat together, and women sat elsewhere, often upstairs. Most women spoke a common low class Greek, while men spoke a more educated and sophisticated Greek. So most of the preaching was above most women’s understanding…so they chatted…noisily…amongst themselves. Hence Paul says, be quiet and learn from your husbands.
However, two things. Who were the first evangelists? Women…who went to the disciples…and Peter. And now all women were silent. Clearly Junia, and Priscilla were teachers, and Paul charged Phoebe (edit there…wrong name) with carrying the letter to the Romans, and the practice of the time was the carrier also was the expounder of the letter.
So Paul, speaking to Timothy was speaking as a general principle, shown by the fact that he said, “I don’t”. He does not say this is a commandment of God. Being male does not automatically give a man authority to teach…only the elders of the church can do that.

It is the matter of culture. In the church of corinthian the men was sit separate from women in the church. Which mean the wife basicly sit separate from the husband During the church service when the wife dont understand somthing or need something from his husband she just stood up and shout from their chamber to his husband and it was very disturb in the church service. That was why Paul say women to keep silence in the church if they want to asked of somthing or dont understand anything just remain silenced and asked it to the husband at home.
There is nothing to do with preaching in the church. Thats the true context of the passage. -
So many female preachers in the Bible. Paul even mentioned he was inspired by one. Least we forget Phoebe was a Deacon. Too many people don’t know the Word that believe this.

THE “CULTURAL CONTEXT” GATE
Firstly can I just say I believe that women have been gifted with the ability to teach, accurately dissect the word of God, prophecy to and for Gods Church, lead believers in prayer, lead non believers to Christ, evangelise etc… my has 7 resident pastors, 2 of whom are women.
Ok so on to the cultural context argument (gate) which is the main point used to affirm women pastors…
If we open this gate as basis of explaining Paul’s very harsh handling of this topic at what point do we close this gate when other harsh topics come before it, for example, homosexuality?
Please none execute me with your replies as I’ve seen some very high rate replies that lack the basic fruits of the spirit. We are all brothers and sister and we won’t agree. Please let’s let all our responses be wrapped in the fruits of the spirit.
As I said I believe women are spiritually gifted in all things. I just think the “CULTURAL CONTEXT” argument Is more dangerous then we perceive and is a doorway for an expanse of textural criticisms and “free for all” in regards to doctrinal interpretations.

We can have many argument toward women leading the Church but one thing that I want us to know is that God is sovereign when He want to use a man it’s very possible to use male nor female we can’t put our God in a box thinking what Paul said is directly restricting ladies to be in control that’s very wrong interpretation as much as we exegit the context with our cognitive let us understand what God can do not what ma can do upon then man, I have women taking control over big positions like being president of the National God allows that, controlling affairs of the whole national how about being a leader of a small congregation? That’s the principle of God that Paul want ys to follow .God is the head of the church ,man is the head of the family. if there’s a need specially the men is unbelievers only the woman who is the believer ,she can teach but not in the pulpit or in the church . likewise there is no elder which is women because there is also a requirement of it,ex.ahusban of one wife.That can be found in 1Tim. Chapter 3 .The problems occurs when you enter into a crazy cycle where women above over men thats a contradiction of Gods principles.

Paul was NOT dead in 40 AD when Matthew was written, nor 55 AD when Mark was written. He MAY have been dead by the time John was written. I go by the dating of 2nd generation Chrisitans who KNEW the authors of the Gospels and were themeselves disciples of them. THEY are the ones who knew who wrote the books, when they were written, and when people died. I go by THEIR witness and their writings, not postmodern scholars who think that 2000 years after the fact that they can possibly revise history more to their liking and discount eyewitness testimony and second-hand testimony and prefer their thousands of years removed revisionist history.

In the eyes of God there is not different between man and woman, only God want who is ready for praching either man or woman.

It depends on the context of the meeting. In that same section he is sharing about a woman not usurping authority or to take authority over a man. She is not to speak in front of the church in a pastoral manner since the presence to angels are assumed in some meetings at least as you look at 1 Corinthians 11. However, in other meetings not only can she teach but even prophesy as long as her head is covered (this was a regional discipline to hyper-feminist spirituality that was occurring in Asian Minor at that time).

Titus 2:3 encourages women to teach
The Holy Spirit is given liberally to all flesh, including women who preach. And the Great Commission yo evangelize is for all, not just men.The verses 1 Cor 14: 34-35 are often miscontrued to say that women should not talk or teach. Actually, the context of this is for the BEGINNER Christian WIVES in Corinth at the time. Of course, baby Christians are encouraged to listen more than talk. And the women even more so in order to honor the men -their husbands. These verses point towards WIVES honoring the men, saving face for men, and avoiding shaming them, rather than saying women should only be quiet all the time.

Paul wrote that woman are not allowed to be pastors. Some say that it was written to a different culture but today it does not apply. However, Paul appealed to the beginning of man and linked it to God’s establishment of the hierarchical structure. So no, woman should not be pastors. It is not a machismo thing, but a biblical principle…

One of the things I’ve been taught is that in the early church, women had so many questions that it was common place for women to stand up, interrupt a sermon and ask that question on the spot. This became such as issue that there was a stop put to that common practice at the time 1 Timothy 2:12. There’s more context to it than that, but that’s what I’ve learned.
