In his sermon entitled, Physical Demonstrations, CoG minister, Rev. R. J. Varnell gives two main reasons for his sermon in his Introduction.

“INTRODUCTION: SOME REASONS FOR THIS MESSAGE.
a) Because of a strong trend in Pentecostal church today to tone down the emotional and conform to the pattern of others.
b) There is a fear in many today that they will be branded fanatic if they let God’s Spirit have rule of them.

It amazes me when I review his sermons and see that they are so relevant to today’s CoG.”

I am a fanatic for Jesus Christ and his love for the world. and I am not ashamed of it, when he saved me I was not in any church, of any kind, I was at home, when God spoke to me and suggested I go to the brooder house and pray, in the middle of a storm. To know Rev. Varnell, you would easily understand that there was absolutely no similarity between his statement and that of the “Toronto Blessing.” No offense meant, and I fully understand what you mean.
